Strengthening Mechanism in Consolidated Amorphous Alloys

open access: yes, 1986
Several samples of consolidated amorphous alloys have been studied by using High Resolution Electron Microscopy (HREM), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Microdiffraction (MD), and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Diffraction Analysis (EDXD).

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Experimental Studies on Strengthening and Failure Mechanism for the Metal/Silicone Rubber/ Metal Bonding System

open access: yes, 2018
In the present research, we carry out a systematical experimental investigation on the strength, toughness and failure mechanism of the metal/silicone rubber/metal bonding system. For the case of the aluminum alloy cylinder/silicone rubber/aluminum alloy

High Entropy Alloy Strengthening Modelling

open access: yes, 2022
High entropy alloys (HEAs) have recently drawn attention due to their excellent mechanical properties across wide temperature ranges. This is attributed to phase stability and a wide variety of strengthening mechanisms in operation.

An analysis of strengthening mechanisms in a mechanically alloyed, oxide dispersion strengthened iron aluminide intermetallic

open access: yesActa Materialia, 2002
An iron aluminide alloy of base composition Fe-40Al has been prepared by mechanical alloying and processed using a variety of powder consolidation methods and heat treatments to produce a range of grain sizes and oxide dispersoid sizes. The strengths of these materials have been determined at room temperature and related to the various aspects of ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.
