Intrinsically Stretchable Piezoelectric Nanocomposites for Artificial Ultrasonic Sensory Synapse

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Applying ultrasonic stimulations to a soft‐stretchable underwater piezoelectric sensor based on the soft‐stretchable nanocomposite from the thermal cross‐linking between the ─C─F group of P(VDF‐TrFE) and the ─NH2 group of (PEG‐diamine) with incorporating amine‐terminated BTO@APTES nanofillers on the soft PDMS substrates generated high piezoelectric ...

Steel-Reinforced Grout (SRG) strengthening of shear-critical RC beams

open access: yesConstruction and Building Materials, 2019
This paper investigates the effectiveness of Steel-Reinforced Grout (SRG) jackets to strengthen shear critical reinforced concrete (RC) beams. Eleven RC beams were tested in three-point bending.

Effect of CFRP Strengthening on Web of Steel I-Beam

open access: yesInternational Journal of Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering, 2019
This study is aimed to strengthen the structural steel I beam with carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) composites to its web to increase its shear strength capacity. Lightweight Beam LB-100 @ 5.1 Kg/m and LB-115@ 8.1 Kg/m is used for this purpose.

Shear Strengthening of High-Strength Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams with Openings Using High-Performance Concrete Mortars

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials
Reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams often necessitate openings in their web to facilitate building utilities. These openings compromise the shear resistance of the beams and, therefore, should be strengthened in their critical shear zone.

CFRP Strengthening of Steel Beams with Web Openings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Integration of services via web-openings in steel floor beams is often unavoidable in modern frame buildings. Such web-openings can significantly reduce the shear and bending strength capacity of the beams. Traditionally, the welding of additional steel plates to the opening areas is adopted as a means of strengthening and stiffening.

Flexural Behavior of Steel Beam Strengthening by Prestressing Strands

open access: yesInternational Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2018
Seven simply supported steel beams were tested to explain the effect of strengthening by external prestressing strands. All of the beams have the same steel section, clear span length and the strengthening samples which implemented by two external prestressing strands.

Passive Directional Water Transport on Superhydrophobic Gradient Textures Fabricated by Direct Laser Interference Patterning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Microstructures fabricated by two‐beam DLIP combining spatial‐period and roughness gradients are fabricated to enhance directional transport of water droplets. The coupled gradients increase transport distance by 160% and strongly suppress motion against the gradient, demonstrating an effective strategy for controlled droplet manipulation.
