Vancomycin-resistant streptococcaceae from clinical material

Zentralblatt Fur Bakteriologie, Mikrobiologie, Und Hygiene Series A, Medical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Virology, Parasitology, 1988
Three strains of vancomycin-resistant Gram-positive cocci, belonging to the family Streptococcaceae, were isolated from patient samples. Two were identified as Leuconostoc species, the other one as Enterococcus (Streptococcus) faecium. The clinical significance of vancomycin-resistant Gram-positive bacteria is discussed.

INHIBITION OF BACTERIA ISOLATED FROM GROUND MEAT BY STREPTOCOCCACEAE AND LACTOBACILLACEAE

Journal of Food Science, 1979
ABSTRACT Cultures of the genera Pediococcus, Lactobacillus, Leuconostoc and Streptococcus were tested for their ability to inhibit 103 bacterial isolates from ground beef by a cross‐streaking technique. The bacterial isolates that were inhibited to the greatest extent were Gramnegative and were classified as species of Serratia ...

Effects of dietary chlortetracycline on the antimicrobial resistance of porcine faecal streptococcaceae

Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1986
Breeding pigs and one‐half of their progeny were fed antimicrobial‐free rations; the other half of the progeny received rations supplemented with 100 g of chlortetracycline (Ctc)/ton. Effects of dietary Ctc with respect to the distribution of species and biotypes of faecal Gram‐positive cocci and their relative resistance to 12 ...

Evaluation of the Vitek 2 System for Rapid Identification of Clinical Isolates of Gram-Negative Bacilli and Members of the Family Streptococcaceae

European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, 2002
Accuracy of the Vitek 2 automated system (bioMérieux Vitek, USA) for rapid identification of bacteria was evaluated using a collection of 858 epidemiologically unrelated gram-negative and 99 gram-positive clinical isolates. Isolates were tested after subculturing to ensure purity.

Molecular identification key of the family Streptococcaceae

Acta Microbiologica et Immunologica Hungarica, 2014
The gene order conservation (GOC) between the species of family Streptococcaceae was analysed. The rate of GOC in the strains belonging to the same species is 70% or more. When we compared different species belonging to the same genus, the rate of GOC was 30–47% while it was below 20% when the species were from different genera.

ANTIMICROBIAL SUSCEPTIBILITY OF FISHSTREPTOCOCCACEAEAND DRUG RESISTANCE DETERMINANTS OF ERYTHROMYCIN- AND TETRACYCLINE-RESISTANTLACTOCOCCUSISOLATED IN TAIWAN

Taiwan Veterinary Journal, 2014
Infection of Streptococcaceae family in fish is common and associated with the increased water temperature. The outbreak of Streptococcaceae infection happens in summer and causes economical loss in fish industry in Taiwan. The objectives of the present study were to investigate the antimicrobial susceptibility of Streptococcaceae isolated from fish in
