Necrotizing soft tissue infections are characterized clinically by fulminant tissue destruction, systemic signs of toxicity, and high mortality. Accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment must include early surgical intervention and antibiotic therapy.

STREPTOCOCCIC INFECTION AND MARMOREK'S SERUM. [PDF]
The study of bacteriology during the past few years has developed many interesting facts, not alone to the scientist, whose labors and interests are confined to the laboratory, but also to the clinician, whose work it is to practically apply the knowledge furnished him by the former.

Functional central limit theorems for epidemic models with varying infectivity [PDF]
In this paper, we prove functional central limit theorems (FCLTs) for a stochastic epidemic model with varying infectivity and general infectious periods recently introduced in Forien, Pang and Pardoux (2020).The infectivity process (total force of infection at each time) is composed of the independent infectivity random functions of each infectious ...

TP53 R249S mutation in hepatic organoids captures the predisposing cancer risk
The systematic approach in elucidating the gain‐of‐function (GOF) roles of TP53 mutations in early liver carcinogenesis. Unique downstream targets of TP53 L3 mutations were identified from chormatin immunoprecipitation sequencing in HCC cell lines, followed by a series of validation assays to substantiate the exclusive transcriptional regulations ...

Pan-infection Foundation Framework Enables Multiple Pathogen Prediction [PDF]
Host-response-based diagnostics can improve the accuracy of diagnosing bacterial and viral infections, thereby reducing inappropriate antibiotic prescriptions. However, the existing cohorts with limited sample size and coarse infections types are unable to support the exploration of an accurate and generalizable diagnostic model.

SIS Epidemic Spreading with Heterogeneous Infection Rates [PDF]
In this work, we aim to understand the influence of the heterogeneity of infection rates on the Susceptible-Infected-Susceptible (SIS) epidemic spreading. Employing the classic SIS model as the benchmark, we study the influence of the independently identically distributed infection rates on the average fraction of infected nodes in the metastable state.
