Induction and characterization of lysogenic bacteriophages fromStreptococcus iniae

To investigate the presence of prophage in Streptococcus iniae, a highly problematic fish pathogen.Cross-spotting assays and mitomycin C inductions were conducted to screen for prophage in 48 Strep. iniae isolates. Bacteriophages were characterized by plaque assays, transmission electron microscopy and DNA restriction enzyme digestion.

Combination effects of cephalexin and gentamicin on Edwardsiella tarda and Streptococcus iniae

The objective of this study was to determine the in vitro activity of cephalexin-gentamicin combination by a microbroth chequerboard technique against clinical isolates of Edwardsiella tarda and Streptococcus iniae. Gentamicin was shown more susceptible than cephalexin against both bacteria.
