Quantitative Aspects, Engineering and Optimization of Bacterial Sensor Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Bacterial sensor systems can be used for the detection and measurement of molecular signal concentrations. The dynamics of the sensor directly depend on the biological properties of the bacterial sensor cells; manipulation of these features in the wet lab enables the engineering and optimization of the bacterial sensor kinetics.

High‐Throughput Tn‐Seq Screens Identify Both Known and Novel Pseudomonas putida KT2440 Genes Involved in Metal Tolerance

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2025.
Exposure of Pseudomonas putida KT2440 to toxic metals activates genes PP_1663, PP_5002, PP_5337, and the two‐component system RoxSR, possibly linked to membrane integrity, FeS cluster maintenance, and DNA transcription, offering new insights into bacterial adaptation to metal tolerance.

Identification and characterization of dominant microflora isolated from selected ripened cheese varieties produced in Uganda [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this study, the predominant lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolates were obtained from Gouda, Jack, Cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses produced in Uganda. The isolates were identified through Gram staining, catalase and oxidase tests, and 16S rDNA sequencing.

Molecular Insights Into MR1‐Mediated T Cell Immunity: Lessons Learned and Unanswered Questions

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 331, Issue 1, May 2025.
ABSTRACT The major histocompatibility complex class‐I related protein, MR1, is an evolutionarily conserved antigen presenting molecule that binds and displays organic metabolites to T cells, including mucosal associated invariant T (MAIT) cells and diverse MR1‐restricted T cells (MR1T). Structural studies have elucidated how MR1 can accommodate a range
