Engineered GM1 Intersects Between Mitochondrial and Synaptic Pathways to Ameliorate ALS Pathology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disease driven by genetic and molecular disruptions affecting energy balance, protein homeostasis, and stress responses in nerve cells. Studies using human and rodent models identified convergent defects in mitochondria and synaptic function.

Allogeneic Immune Cell Perfusion Inhibits the Growth of Vascularized 3D In Vitro Tumor Models, Induces Vascular Regression and Desmoplasia, but Promotes Tumor Cell Invasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a vascularized 3D tumor model to investigate immune–stromal–tumor interactions under allogeneic PBMC perfusion. While immune cells induced tumor shrinkage, they also promoted vascular regression, stromal activation, and cancer cell invasion.

Discovery of SKP2‐Recruiting PROTACs for Target Protein Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on the SKP2‐targeting ligand SL1, we designed non‐covalent PROTACs by linking it with the BRD4 inhibitor JQ1 and the AR antagonist AL through a linker. These PROTACs successfully induced the ubiquitination of BRD4 and AR, followed by proteasome‐mediated degradation.

Contribution of the FeoB transporter to Streptococcus suis virulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The contribution of iron transporter systems encoded by feo genes to the pathogenic traits of streptococci is largely unknown, despite the fact that those systems are required for the full virulence of several gram-negative bacterial species.

Rapid Remodeling of the Human Gut Microbiome in Response to Short‐Term Animal Product Restriction and Associations with Host Molecular Phenotypes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A real‐world model of structured animal product restriction practiced for religious reasons reveals the dynamic adaptability of the human gut microbiome to dietary change and uncovers reductions in diversity and rare taxa loss. Integrated microbiome, metabolomic, and proteomic analyses uncover coordinated taxonomic and molecular shifts and identify ...

Radical‐Mediated, Substrate‐Independent Fabrication of Hybrid Solid–Hydrogel Materials With Tunable Crosslinking: An Initiator‐ and Crosslinker‐Free Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a substrate‐independent, reagent‐free plasma strategy that forms radical‐rich interlayers for covalent hydrogel attachment without initiators or crosslinkers. The long‐lived radicals drive in situ gelation, creating robust, cytocompatible hybrid solid–hydrogel constructs across diverse substrates.

Oral Streptococcus salivarius Couples Neutrophil IRGM1 Signaling to NET Formation and Colorectal Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The oral bacterium Streptococcus salivarius promotes colorectal cancer metastasis by inducing neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation. Mechanistically, IRGM1–IQGAP1 interaction activates Wnt5a–PI3K/AKT signaling in neutrophils, driving NET‐mediated tumor progression.

Prevalência de Streptococcus suis tipo 2 por meio da técnica de reação em cadeia da polimerase em suínos abatidos no Estado do Mato Grosso Prevalence of Streptococcus suis type 2 using the polimerase chain reaction in slaughtered pigs in the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2010
Streptococcus suis é um patógeno que a afeta a produção industrial de suínos em todo o mundo. É de extrema importância, pois está associado a doenças em suínos e humanos.
