Pretreatment Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) Level in the Failure of Streptokinase Therapy in Acute Myocardial Infaction

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2004
Background: The risk for unsuccessful reperfusion after streptokinase therapy may be caused by the antifibrinolytic effect of platelet-derived type 1 plasminogen activator inhibitor (Pal-1) and antistreptokinase antibodies.

Mechano‐Lysis in Whole Blood Clots: On How Mechanics Affect Clot Lysis, and How Lysis Affects Clot Mechanics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 9, April 4, 2025.
This study examines the mechano‐lytic behavior of whole blood clots, assessing how mechanical stretch influences lysis rates and how lysis, in turn, alters clot mechanical properties. Findings show that stretch accelerates mass loss without increasing the lysis rate.

Fibrinolysis regulation by platelets retaining plasminogen and tissue-type plasminogen activator on their surface [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ukrainian Biochemical Journal, 2019
Platelets play a key role in hemostasis as cofactors of thrombin generation, fibrin polymerization centers, and initiators of clot retraction, while their ability to modulate clot dissolution remains less understood.

A Dual‐Layer Hydrogel Barrier Integrating Bio‐Adhesive and Anti‐Adhesive Properties Prevents Postoperative Abdominal Adhesions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 11, April 25, 2025.
A new dual‐layer hydrogel barrier for preventing postoperative abdominal adhesions is developed. The inner layer, consisting of polyethyleneimine (PEI) and thioctic acid (TA), enhanced adhesion to moist tissues. The outer layer combines zwitterionic, thermoresponsive hyaluronic acid with anti‐inflammatory epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and forms a ...

One-Year Risk of Stroke after Transient Ischemic Attack or Minor Stroke [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND Previous studies conducted between 1997 and 2003 estimated that the risk of stroke or an acute coronary syndrome was 12 to 20% during the first 3 months after a transient ischemic attack (TIA) or minor stroke.

Fibrinogen‐binding M‐related proteins facilitate the recruitment of plasminogen by Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract Group A Streptococcus (GAS) M‐related proteins (Mrp) are dimeric α‐helical coiled‐coil cell‐wall‐attached proteins. During infection, Mrp recruit human fibrinogen (Fg) to the bacterial surface, enhancing phagocytosis resistance and promoting growth in human blood.

Real‐World Dual Antiplatelet Therapy Use Exceeds Randomized Trials Boundaries With Possible Safety Issues in Patients With Large Artery Atherosclerosis—Insights From the READAPT Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aim According to randomized controlled trials (RCTs), dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is more effective for secondary prevention of ischemic events attributable to large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) than other mechanisms. We investigated whether real‐world application may impact DAPT effectiveness and safety in the REAl‐life ...

The effects of various streptokinase thrombolysis regimens on coagulation hemostasis and fibrinolysis in acute myocardial infarction

open access: yesКардиоваскулярная терапия и профилактика, 2006
Aim. To study effects of various streptokinase thrombolytic therapy (TLT) and following antithrombotic therapy variants on coagulation hemostasis and fibrinolysis parameters; to prove the opportunity to use reduced streptokinase doses in acute myocardial

Abnormal chest x-ray postmyocardial infarction

open access: yesHeart Views, 2014
Pulmonary hemorrhage is a rare complication of fibrinolytic therapy. Only a few cases are reported in the literature. We present a patient who had myocardial infarction, treated with fibrinolytic therapy and developed pulmonary hemorrhage. We discuss the
