DEOXYNYBOMYCIN FROM A STREPTOMYCES

open access: yesThe Journal of Antibiotics, 1970
During the screening for new antibiotics, a new antibiotic was isolated in crystalline form from the cultured broth of a StreptomycesStreptomyces, isolated from a soil sample collected in Okinawa. The structural studies revealed that this antibiotic was deoxynybomycin1), which had been already derived chemically from nybomycin2) by Rinehart et al.

Highlights of Streptomyces genetics [PDF]

open access: yesHeredity, 2019
Sixty years ago, the actinomycetes, which include members of the genus Streptomyces, with their bacterial cellular dimensions but a mycelial growth habit like fungi, were generally regarded as a possible intermediate group, and virtually nothing was known about their genetics. We now know that they are bacteria, but with many original features.

Differentiation of the disease caused by Aphanomyces cochlioides and girth scab on sugar beet roots - a review

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2017
Severe symptoms of root rot on sugar beet have been observed in Poland and Germany since 2001. The symptom classification suggested girth scab as it was mistakenly classified on the basis of current classification, e.g. in LIZ.

Machine‐Learning Analysis of Streptomyces coelicolor Transcriptomes Reveals a Transcription Regulatory Network Encompassing Biosynthetic Gene Clusters

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Streptomyces produces diverse secondary metabolites of biopharmaceutical importance, yet the rate of biosynthesis of these metabolites is often hampered by complex transcriptional regulation.
