Nitroflavone Derivatives Inhibit the Production of Actinorhodin in Streptomyces coelicolor
Streptomyces coelicolor M145 (SC) is a model strain characterised by its highly active oxidative metabolism. This results in high levels of oxidative stress and the production of actinorhodin (ACT), a blue polyketide pigment with antioxidant properties ...

A novel streptomycete strain, designated XY25T, was isolated from the rhizosphere soil in an alfalfa field in Jingyang, Shanxi, China. The isolate showed optimal growth at 37 °C, and was capable of growing at pH 6-10 and in the presence of 0-6 % (w/v) NaCl.

Streptomyces alkaliterrae sp. nov., isolated from an alkaline soil, and emended descriptions of Streptomyces alkaliphilus, Streptomyces calidiresistens and Streptomyces durbertensis [PDF]
A polyphasic study was undertaken to establish the taxonomic position of six representative streptomycetes isolated from an alkaline soil adjacent to a meteoric alkaline soda lake in India. Chemotaxonomic, cultural and morphological properties of the isolates were consistent with their classification in the genus Streptomyces.

ParA and ParB coordinate chromosome segregation with cell elongation and division during Streptomyces sporulation [PDF]
In unicellular bacteria, the ParA and ParB proteins segregate chromosomes and coordinate this process with cell division and chromosome replication. During sporulation of mycelial Streptomyces, ParA and ParB uniformly distribute multiple chromosomes ...

Lipida of Streptomyces sioyaensis
Three ninhydrin-positive lipids of Streptomyces sioyaensis were found. These lipids were called substance A, B and C, tentatively. Study on the distribution of these lipids in Actinomycetales has shown that substance A was common in all of the strains tested, and that substance B was found in the limited strains. The substance C was characteristic only

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

A Preliminary Assessment of Yellow Pigment from Streptomyces parvulus C5-5Y
A yellow pigment producing potent strain Streptomyces parvulus C5-5Y (KJ624998) isolated from leather industry was used in this study. The pigmented metabolite exhibited good spectrum of antagonistic activity against common human clinical pathogens ...
