Early streptozotocin diabetes and hunger

Physiology & Behavior, 1983
The initial effect of streptozotocin diabetes is not hyperphagia, but reduced food intake. Diabetic hyperphagia reaches maximum only after many days. Utilization of body fat may account for the delayed appearance of diabetic hyperphagia; this effect may be mediated by plasma fat metabolites.

Streptozotocin for metastatic malignant melanoma

American Journal of Clinical Oncology, 1985
Streptozotocin was administered at a dose of 500 mg/m2/day by continuous infusion for 120 hours to 14 patients with advanced malignant melanoma. No responses were observed in this group of patients and the median survival for the entire group was 2 months. At the dose and schedule delivered, streptozotocin is inactive against malignant melanoma.

Carnitine in the Streptozotocin-Diabetic Rat

The Journal of Nutrition, 1985
Rats made moderately diabetic by streptozotocin (decreased growth without decreased body mass, blood glucose, 588-840 mg/dl) and nondiabetic rats were either fed a purified diet with no measurable carnitine (diet 1), the same diet supplemented with carnitine (44.5 nmol/g food, diet 2), or a closed formula, nonpurified diet (3.3 nmol/g food, diet 3 ...

Streptozotocin treatment for malignant insulinoma

Irish Journal of Medical Science, 1974
A CASE of malignant insulinoma was treated with streptozotocin intravenously and by coeliac axis infusion. Treatment was repeated over a period of two years, and the total dose was 82.5g. Several clinical remissions of hypoglycaemia were obtained despite the persistence of abnormally elevated plasma insulin levels.

Notes on streptozotocin in metastatic insulinoma

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 1971
AbstractA case of limited success with streptozotocin in overwhelming metastatic insulinoma is reported for illustration of clinical management and possible toxic effects of the drug. An initial dose of 1.5 g/m2 and an interval of administration no more frequent than 1–2 weeks is favored.
