Influence of Porphyromonas gingivalis in gut microbiota of streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice.

Oral Diseases, 2019
OBJECTIVES Increasing evidence suggests that periodontitis can exacerbate diabetes, and gut bacterial dysbiosis appears to be linked with the diabetic condition.

Mutagenic activity of streptozotocin

Mutation Research/Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 1968
Abstract Streptozotocin plus “cofactor” has been shown to be mutagenic for histidine requiring Salmonella typhimurium strains. The cofactor has been shown to be nonessential to this activity. Revertant frequency data presented indicate that streptozotocin and N-nitrosoguanidine have comparable activity.

Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes Mellitus in Neonatal Rats: An insight into its applications to Induce Diabetic Complications.

Current Diabetes Reviews, 2019
BACKGROUND Diabetic complications are the major contributor in mortality of diabetic patients despite controlling blood glucose level. In the journey of new drug discovery, animal models have to play a major role.

Hyperlipoproteinemia in Streptozotocin-treated Rats

Diabetes, 1976
In order to study hyperlipidemia in diabetes mellitus, rats were made diabetic by administration of streptozotocin and the optimal conditions for production of severe and persistent hyperlipoprotenemia determined. Two groups of rats were compared: rats fed sucrose-rich diets and rats fed laboratory chow.

Microencapsulated adult porcine islets transplanted intraperitoneally in streptozotocin‐diabetic non‐human primates

Xenotransplantation, 2018
Xenogeneic donors would provide an unlimited source of islets for the treatment of type 1 diabetes (T1D). The goal of this study was to assess the function of microencapsulated adult porcine islets (APIs) transplanted ip in streptozotocin (STZ)‐diabetic ...

Early streptozotocin diabetes and hunger

Physiology & Behavior, 1983
The initial effect of streptozotocin diabetes is not hyperphagia, but reduced food intake. Diabetic hyperphagia reaches maximum only after many days. Utilization of body fat may account for the delayed appearance of diabetic hyperphagia; this effect may be mediated by plasma fat metabolites.

Streptozotocin treatment for malignant insulinoma

Irish Journal of Medical Science, 1974
A CASE of malignant insulinoma was treated with streptozotocin intravenously and by coeliac axis infusion. Treatment was repeated over a period of two years, and the total dose was 82.5g. Several clinical remissions of hypoglycaemia were obtained despite the persistence of abnormally elevated plasma insulin levels.

Streptozotocin for metastatic malignant melanoma

American Journal of Clinical Oncology, 1985
Streptozotocin was administered at a dose of 500 mg/m2/day by continuous infusion for 120 hours to 14 patients with advanced malignant melanoma. No responses were observed in this group of patients and the median survival for the entire group was 2 months. At the dose and schedule delivered, streptozotocin is inactive against malignant melanoma.
