Defining Roles in Pediatric Palliative Care: Perspectives From Oncology and Palliative Care Teams

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Early integration of pediatric palliative care (PPC) is associated with improved symptom management, quality of life, and healthcare utilization for children with cancer. Despite this, variation persists in how PPC is understood, operationalized, and integrated within pediatric oncology programs. In particular, ambiguity surrounding

Blinatumomab Utilization in Pediatric B‐Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: Experience From the Mountain West

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Blinatumomab is a bispecific T‐cell engager approved for the treatment of pediatric B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B‐ALL). Outpatient home infusion reduces hospitalization burden and optimizes resource utilization, but is logistically challenging.

Rheological instability in a simple shear thickening model

open access: yes, 2001
We study the strain response to steady imposed stress in a spatially homogeneous, scalar model for shear thickening, in which the local rate of yielding \Gamma(l) of mesoscopic `elastic elements' is not monotonic in the local strain l.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Investigation of the Behaviour of Cohesive Powder in the Biaxial Tester

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2014
The results from experiments with cohesive limestone powder in a Biaxial Tester are presented. The biaxial tester allows a plane homogeneous deformation and measurement of the complete stress-strain states.

Self-organization of adatom adsorption structure at interaction with tip of dynamic force microscope [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The formation of an adatom adsorption structure in dynamic force microscopy experiment is shown as a result of the spontaneous appearance of shear strain caused by external supercritical heating.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Characterization of Stress State of Corrugated Steel Web Girders Based on Mann-Kendall Criterion

open access: yesZhongwai Gonglu
To reasonably characterize the stress state of corrugated steel web girders and determine the failure load, the stress state evolution pattern of corrugated steel web girders was investigated in this paper based on the structural stress state theory ...

Spatio-temporal dynamics of an active, polar, viscoelastic ring

open access: yes, 2014
Constitutive equations for a one-dimensional, active, polar, viscoelastic liquid are derived by treating the strain field as a slow hydrodynamic variable.
