Stress distribution in helium-ion implantations☆

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1976
Abstract The stress introduced into a material in a monoenergetic helium-ion implantation is calculated for a ion beam with a gaussian intensity distribution. An effective beam spot of the order of several millimeters was chosen as typical of blistering experiments. The sample is assumed to be semi-infinite and isotropic.

Stress Distributions Analyzed in Bispherical Co-Ordinates

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1960
Boussinesq-Papkovich potentials are used in conjunction with the bispherical co-ordinate system to analyze three problems in the classical theory of linear elasticity: (a) The extension of the Boussinesq point-load problem to that in which the half-space contains a spherical cavity; (b) the determination of the stress distribution in an eccentric ...

Distributional Stress Regularity: A Corpus Study

Journal of Psycholinguistic Research, 2008
The regularity of stress patterns in a language depends on distributional stress regularity, which arises from the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables, and durational stress regularity, which arises from the timing of syllables. Here we focus on distributional regularity, which depends on three factors.

Stress Distribution in Diametral Compression Tests

Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, 1981
In an attempt to find an explanation for an experimentally found strong connection between the extension of the loaded area and the load required for fracture, an analysis of the diametral compression test was carried out by means of the finite element method. The distribution of the stresses in a quadrant of a circular specimen section was studied for

Stress-distribution in the alveolar bone

Journal of Biomechanics, 1968
Abstract A method using photoelastic procedures has been described for the detection of stresses in the alveolar bone. An evaluation of the magnitude of the stress concentrations in a section of a tooth socket is given and the result compared with the known physical properties of the tissues concerned.

Stress Distributions in Nonsymmetric Rotating Rays

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1955
Abstract The centrifugal forces acting upon a rotating ray will produce longitudinal stresses along the ray. If the ray is not symmetric, these stresses will result not only in a longitudinal force, but also in a bending moment. A technique for finding the stress distribution in this case is developed and illustrated by means of simple ...

Stress Distribution in Splitting Tests

ACI Journal Proceedings, 1968
A COMPARATIVE ANALYTICAL STUDY IS DESCRIBED OF THE CRITICAL STRESS DISTRIBUTIONS DEVELOPED IN SPLITTING TESTS ON CONCRETE SPECIMENS OF VARIOUS SHAPES. ASSUMING LINEAR ELASTIC BEHAVIOR, THE SPLITTING STRESSES FOR THE FOUR FOLLOWING CASES ARE INVESTIGATED FOR CONCENTRATED LINE LOADING: (1) CYLINDER SPECIMENS; (2) CUBE SPECIMENS; (3) BEAM SPECIMENS; AND ...

Stress Intensity Factors for a Linear Stress Distribution

2003
The stress intensity factor for an edge crack of length a in a semi-infinite plate subjected to a pair of equal and opposite concentrated forces at a distance b from the plate edge (Figure 1) is given by [1] $$ K'_I = \frac{2} {{\sqrt \pi }}\frac{{1 + F\left( {{b \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {b a}} \right.
