stress Distribution at an Overfall

Transactions of the ASAE, 1989
ABSTRACT THE formation and movement of a headcut in an earth emergency spillway often constitutes the major source of damage to the structure. The mechanics of headcut formation and growth are, however, largely unknown. The following paper describes current research in measuring the hydraulic stresses at the boundary of a turbulent overfall.

Stress distribution in the muscles of the diaphragm

2000
Summary: The diaphragm is treated as a membrane subject to a uniform pressure, and the muscle action is modeled as a uniaxial active stress in the direction of muscle bundles. We look for the generalized stress distribution in the membrane. The shape of the active diaphragm is approximated by a surface know as a cyclide.

Analysis of stress distribution by endodontic posts

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1972
Abstract Three commonly used endodontic post designs, their lengths, their methods of insertion, and their abilities to transmit occlusal forces to supporting structures were compared. According to this photoelastic stress analysis, post design affects stress distribution.

Stress distribution in two-dimensional silos

Physical Review E, 2018
Simulations of a polydispersed two-dimensional silo were performed using molecular dynamics, with different numbers of grains reaching up to 64 000, verifying numerically the model derived by Janssen and also the main assumption that the walls carry part of the weight due to the static friction between grains with themselves and those with the silo's ...

Distributions of load stresses and residual stresses at notches

KSME Journal, 1992
The fatigue strengh reduction factor K, can be mitigated or eliminated by suitable surface treatments. Analysis of these affects requires the knowledge of the distributions of load stresses and of residual stresses below the surface of notches. This paper describes a simple, approximate formula to determine load stress distributions and residual stress

Adhesive Stress Distribution Measurement on a Gecko

2014
Gecko adhesion has inspired climbing robots and synthetic adhesive grippers. Distributing loads between patches of adhesive is important for maximum performance in gecko-inspired devices, but it is unknown how the gecko distributes loads over its toes. We report in vivo measurements of stress distributions on gecko toes.

Stress Intensity Factors for a Linear Stress Distribution

2003
The stress intensity factor for an edge crack of length a in a semi-infinite plate subjected to a pair of equal and opposite concentrated forces at a distance b from the plate edge (Figure 1) is given by [1] $$ K'_I = \frac{2} {{\sqrt \pi }}\frac{{1 + F\left( {{b \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {b a}} \right.
