Effect of phase angle on the cyclic behavior of AISI 410 alloy [PDF]
Multiaxial strain-controlled fatigue tests were conducted on AISI 410 according to ASTM 2207-E08 [1] under proportional (phase angle, θ = 90°) and non-proportional (phase angle, θ = 90º) loadings.

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

Hysteresis in organic field-effect transistors is attributed to the well-known bias stress effects. This is a phenomenon in which the measured drain-source current varies when sweeping the gate voltage from on to off or from off to on.

Characterizing the hysteretic effects of water and salinity stresses on root-water-uptake
Characterizing the effects of previous water and salinity stresses is critical for the evaluation of plant water status, which, in turn, is essential for understanding soil-plant water relations and optimizing irrigation schemes.

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Stress overshoot, hysteresis, and the Bauschinger effect in sheared dense colloidal suspensions
The mechanical non-linear response of dense Brownian suspensions of polymer gel particles is studied experimentally and by means of numerical simulations. It is shown that the response to the application of a constant shear rate depends on the previous history of the suspension.

Impacts of Residual Stress on Micro Vibratory Platform Used for Inertial Sensor Calibration
A micro vibratory platform driven by converse piezoelectric effects is a promising in-situ recalibration platform to eliminate the influence of bias and scale factor drift caused by long-term storage of micro-electro–mechanical system (MEMS) inertial ...

Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...
