Characterizing epithelial‐mesenchymal transition‐linked heterogeneity in breast cancer circulating tumor cells at a single‐cell level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In over 50% of non‐metastatic breast cancer patients, circulating tumor cells (CTCs) along the whole epithelial‐mesenchymal transition spectrum are detected. Total CTC number and individual phenotypes relate to aggressive disease characteristics, including lymph node involvement and higher tumor proliferation. At the single‐cell level, mesenchymal CTCs

Haplotype-resolved telomere-to-telomere genome assembly of the dikaryotic fungus pathogen Rhizoctonia cerealis

open access: yesScientific Data
Rhizoctonia cerealis, the causal agent of sharp eyespot, is a highly destructive pathogen of wheat. Despite its global importance, the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying virulence of R. cerealis remain poorly understood. R.

Effect of exposure cycle on hot salt stress corrosion of a titanium alloy [PDF]

open access: yes
The influence of exposure cycle on the hot-salt stress-corrosion cracking resistance of the Ti-8Al-1Mo-1V alloy was determined. Both temperature and stress were cycled simultaneously to simulate turbine-powered aircraft service cycles.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

The rapidly growing landscape of RAS inhibitors: from selective allele blockade to broad inhibition strategies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RAS‐targeted therapies have become a clinical reality. Although promising results in patients have been achieved, there are still challenges ahead such as coping with drug resistance. Here we summarize selected RAS inhibitors targeting either individual KRAS mutant isoforms (KRASG12C, KRASG12D, KRASG12V) or exhibiting a wider inhibitory spectrum ...
