Computational Investigation on the Combined Effect of Applied Strain and Pore Configuration on Strain Concentrators in Additively Manufactured Metals

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 5, Page 1656-1679, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Metal additive manufacturing (AM) provides a pathway for creating highly optimized components that would be difficult to produce using traditional manufacturing methods. However, regardless of printing parameters or postprocessing, porosity remains a prevalent challenge in AM components because strain concentrates in the vicinity of the pore ...

Influence of Surface Flaw Interaction on Failure Assessment Diagram in the Framework of Fitness‐for‐Service Procedures

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 5, Page 1877-1894, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the influence of closely spaced surface‐flaw interaction on failure assessment diagrams (FADs) used in fitness‐for‐service evaluations, addressing the conservatism introduced when standards such as BS 7910 and API 579 recharacterize interacting flaws as a single bounding crack.

Outcomes of an Exercise Intervention in Adults With Down Syndrome and Congenital Heart Disease: A Secondary Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Intellectual Disability Research, Volume 70, Issue 5, Page 491-499, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Adults with Down syndrome (DS) are less physically active than those without DS. Among adults with DS, those with congenital heart disease (CHD) have lower physical activity than those without CHD. Many trials exclude people with CHD from exercise trials; thus, the safety and effectiveness of these interventions for increasing ...

Correlation Between Functional Scores and Objective Gait Parameters Following Rotating Hinge Knee Megaprosthesis Reconstruction

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 5, Page 1042-1053, May 2026.
Using a wearable gait system, we compared MSTS, TESS, and KSS with objective spatiotemporal metrics in patients after rotating‐hinge knee reconstruction. TESS showed the highest median R 2 and stronger correlations with walking velocity and step/stride length, outperforming MSTS and KSS.

Physiological markers of Trauma‐related nightmares among military personnel suffering from PTSD: A multicenter home‐recording study

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, Volume 80, Issue 5, Page 398-408, May 2026.
Aim Despite being one of the most disabling symptoms of post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)—disrupting sleep continuity, reinforcing hyperarousal, and worsening psychiatric comorbidity—the physiological signature of Trauma‐related nightmares (TRNs) under naturalistic sleep conditions remains poorly characterized.
