Alleviating the effect of the strict avalanche criterion (SAC) of symmetric-key encryption in wireless communication channels

2011 International Conference on Communications and Information Technology (ICCIT), 2011
The strict avalanche criterion (SAC) is a desirable property of traditional symmetric-key cryptographic algorithms. The SAC is said to be satisfied if, whenever a single input bit is complemented, each of the output bits changes with a probability of one half. In terms of the block ciphers context, such a small change in either the key or the plaintext

Method of s-boxes synthesis based on the criterion of zero correlation between the output and input data vectors and the strict avalanche criterion

Radioelectronics and Communications Systems, 2014
A constructive method of synthesis of correlation-immune S-boxes of length N = 256 satisfying the strict avalanche criterion has been proposed. Its properties and estimates of the number of optimal S-boxes that can be obtained by using the proposed method were determined.

An upper bound for the number of functions satisfying the strict avalanche criterion

Discrete Mathematics and Applications, 2005
Summary: The strict avalanche criterion was introduced by \textit{A. F. Webster} and \textit{S. E. Tavares} [in: Advances in cryptology -- CRYPTO '85. Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. 218, 523--534 (1986)] while studying some cryptographic functions. We say that a binary function \(f(x)\), \(x\in V_n\), satisfies this criterion if replacing any coordinate of ...

THE ALGORITHM FOR COMPUTING THE S-BOXES WITH IMPROVED STRICT AVALANCHE CRITERION AND HIGH NON-LINEARITY BY SELECTING DIRECTED GRAPH PARAMETERS

Journal of Science and Innovative Development, 2023
This article deals with the problem of generating a non-linear reflection block (S-box), which is one of the important parts of the block cipher standards developed in modern cryptography. It is being emphasized that reliable cryptographic encryption algorithms are needed in order to ensure the confidentiality of data exchanged by users.

Improved Recursive Construction of S-box Satisfying Perfect Strict Avalanche Criterion

Malaysian Journal of Mathematical Sciences
A secure S—box must exhibit the Strict Avalanche Criterion (SAC), ensuring that a single-bit change in the input causes each output bit to change with a probability close to 50%, thereby complicating differential and linear cryptanalysis. Despite its importance, analyses of deployed ciphers suggest that current S—box designs can still be improved.

Constructive method for the synthesis of nonlinear S-boxes satisfying the strict avalanche criterion

Radioelectronics and Communications Systems, 2013
A constructive method is proposed for the synthesis of cryptographic substitution boxes (S-boxes) satisfying both the strict avalanche criterion and the high nonlinearity criterion, where smaller length S-boxes and highly nonlinear bent functions are used as a source material.

Highly nonlinear 0–1 balanced boolean functions satisfying strict avalanche criterion (extended abstract)

1993
Nonlinearity, 0–1 balancedness and strict avalanche criterion (SAC) are important criteria for cryptographic functions. Bent functions have maximum nonlinearity and satisfy SAC however they are not 0–1 balanced and hence cannot be directly used in many cryptosystems where 0–1 balancedness is needed.
