Aspects of Moduli Stabilization in Type IIB String Theory

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
We review moduli stabilization in type IIB string theory compactification with fluxes. We focus on KKLT and Large Volume Scenario (LVS). We show that the predicted soft SUSY breaking terms in KKLT model are not phenomenological viable. In LVS, the following result for scalar mass, gaugino mass, and trilinear term is obtained: m0 = m1/2 = −A0 = m3/2 ...

D Branes and Textures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We examine the flavor structure of the trilinear superpotential couplings which can result from embedding the Standard Model within D brane sectors in Type IIB orientifold models, which are examples within the Type I string framework.

Type IIA string theory on T 6/(Z2 × Z6 × OmegaR) : model building and string phenomenology with intersecting D6-branes

open access: yes, 2016
In this doctoral thesis, various aspects of string model building and phenomenology are investigated within the framework of Type IIA string theory on the T 6/(Z2 × Z6 × ΩR) orbifold with discrete torsion. The aim is the reproduction of supersymmetric versions of well-known particle physics models using intersecting rigid D6-branes wrapped on ...

Resource Letter NSST-1: The Nature and Status of String Theory

open access: yes, 2004
This Resource Letter provides a guide to some of the the introductory and review literature in string theory. It is in no way complete, though it is intended to be of use to students at several levels. Owing to the nature of the subject, even much of the

Corfu 05 lectures - part I: Strings on curved backgrounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In these introductory lectures we summarize some basic facts and techniques about perturbative string theory (sections 1 to 6). These are further developed (sections 7 and 8) for describing string propagation in the presence of gravitational or gauge ...

Scales and hierarchies in warped compactifications and brane worlds

open access: yes, 2003
Warped compactifications with branes provide a new approach to the hierarchy problem and generate a diversity of four-dimensional thresholds. We investigate the relationships between these scales, which fall into two classes.

Experimental Probes of the Randall-Sundrum Infinite Extra Dimension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The phenomenological possibilities of the Randall-Sundrum non-compact extra dimension scenario with the AdS horizon increased to approximately a millimeter length, corresponding to an effective brane tension of TeV^4, are investigated. The corrections to

End of the world brane networks for infinite distance limits in CY moduli space

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Dynamical Cobordism provides a powerful method to probe infinite distance limits in moduli/field spaces parameterized by scalars constrained by generic potentials, employing configurations of codimension-1 end of the world (ETW) branes.

BPS Branes in Cosmology

open access: yes, 2001
The possibility to study the M/string theory cosmology via 5d bulk & brane action is investigated. The role of the 4-form field in the theory of BPS branes in 5d is clarified.
