String loop corrections to the universal hypermultiplet [PDF]
We study loop corrections to the universal dilaton supermultiplet for type IIA strings compactified on Calabi-Yau threefolds. We show that the corresponding quaternionic kinetic terms receive non-trivial one-loop contributions proportional to the Euler number of the Calabi-Yau manifold, while the higher-loop corrections can be absorbed by field ...

Systematics of the α′ expansion in F-theory
Extracting reliable low-energy information from string compactifications notoriously requires a detailed understanding of the UV sensitivity of the corresponding effective field theories.

Kerr-Newman black holes with string corrections [PDF]
We study $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravity with higher-derivative corrections that preserve the $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetry and show that Kerr-Newman black holes are solutions to these theories. Modifications of the black hole entropy due to the higher derivatives are universal and apply even in the BPS and Schwarzschild limits.

Large-size expansion for triangular Wilson loops in confining gauge theories
The asymptotic behavior of Wilson loops in the large-size limit (L → ∞) in confining gauge theories with area law is controlled by effective string theory (EST).

Optimal feedback correction in string quartet synchronization [PDF]
Control of relative timing is critical in ensemble music performance. We hypothesize that players respond to and correct asynchronies in tone onsets that arise from fluctuations in their individual tempos. We propose a first-order linear phase correction model and demonstrate that optimal performance that minimizes asynchrony variance predicts a ...

Thermofield Dynamics of the Heterotic String - Physical Aspects of the Thermal Duality -
The thermofield dynamics of the D = 10 heterotic thermal string theory is described in proper reference to the thermal duality symmetry as well as the thermal stability of modular invariance in association with the global phase structure of the D = 10 ...

Frobenius manifolds, Integrable Hierarchies and Minimal Liouville Gravity [PDF]
We use the connection between the Frobrenius manifold and the Douglas string equation to further investigate Minimal Liouville gravity. We search a solution of the Douglas string equation and simultaneously a proper transformation from the KdV to the ...

Non-singular string cosmology via α′ corrections [PDF]
Abstract In string theory, an important challenge is to show if the big-bang singularity could be resolved by the higher derivative α′ corrections. In this work, based on the Hohm-Zwiebach action, we construct a series of non-singular non-perturbative cosmological solutions with the complete α′ corrections, for the bosonic gravi ...

A Universality Test of the Quantum String Bethe Ansatz
We show that the quantum corrected string Bethe ansatz passes an important universality test by demonstrating that it correctly incorporates the non-analytical terms in the string sigma model one-loop correction for rational three-spin strings with two ...
