In Vivo Skin 3‐D Surface Reconstruction and Wrinkle Depth Estimation Using Handheld High Resolution Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A compact handheld GelSight probe reconstructs in vivo 3‐D skin topography with micron‐level precision using a custom elastic gel and a learning‐based surface normal to height map pipeline. The device quantifies wrinkle depth across various body locations and detects changes in wrinkle depth following moisturizer application.

On (non)integrability of classical strings in p-brane backgrounds

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate the question of possible integrability of classical string motion in curved p-brane backgrounds. For example, the D3-brane metric interpolates between the flat and the AdS_5 x S^5 regions in which string propagation is integrable.

The string-to-string correction problem with block moves

open access: yesACM Transactions on Computer Systems, 1984
The string-to-string correction problem is to find a minimal sequence of edit operations for changing a given string into another given string. Extant algorithms compute a longest common subsequence (LCS) of the two strings and then regard the characters not included in the LCS as the differences.

String unification, universal one-loop corrections and strongly coupled heterotic string theory [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1997
We derive the universal threshold corrections in heterotic string theory including a continuous Wilson line. Unification of gauge and gravitational couplings is shown to be possible even within perturbative string theory. The relative importance of gauge group dependent and independent thresholds on unification is clarified. Equipped with these results

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Magnetically Induced Displacement Force Test Method for Ultralight Implants Based on Counterweight Correction Method

open access: yesZhongguo yiliao qixie zazhi
ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) F2052-21 (Chinese corresponding standard titled as YY/T 0987.2) introduces a test method to measure the magnetically induced displacement force on medical devices in the magnetic resonance environment ...

Strong-coupling expansion of cusp anomaly and gluon amplitudes from quantum open strings in AdS_5 x S^5

open access: yes, 2007
An important ``observable'' of planar N=4 SYM theory is the scaling function f(lambda) that appears in the anomalous dimension of large spin twist 2 operators and also in the cusp anomaly of light-like Wilson loops.

Transistor‐Level Activation Functions via Two‐Gate Designs: From Analog Sigmoid and Gaussian Control to Real‐Time Hardware Demonstrations

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Screen gate‐based transistors are presented, enabling tunable analog sigmoid and Gaussian activations. The SA‐transistor improves MRI classification accuracy, while the GA‐transistor supports precise Gaussian kernel tuning for forecasting. Both functions are implemented in a single device, offering compact, energy‐efficient analog AI processing ...
