1/q^2 Corrections and Gauge/String Duality [PDF]
We make an estimate of the quadratic correction based on gauge/string duality. Like in QCD, it proves to be negative and proportional to the string tension.

Open string T-duality in double space
The role of double space is essential in the new interpretation of T-duality and consequently in an attempt to construct M-theory. The case of the open string is missing in such an approach because until now there has been no appropriate formulation of ...

Recent Results in String Duality [PDF]
This is a talk given at YKIS '95, primarily to non-string theorists. I review the evidence for string duality, the principle that any string theory at strong coupling looks like another string theory at weak coupling. A postscript summarizes developments since the conference.

Niemeier Lattices in the Free Fermionic Heterotic–String Formulation
The spinor–vector duality was discovered in free fermionic constructions of the heterotic string in four dimensions. It played a key role in the construction of heterotic–string models with an anomaly-free extra Z′ symmetry that may remain unbroken down ...

T-duality equivalences beyond string theory
We examine a two parameter family of gravitational actions which contains higher-derivative terms. These are such that the entire action is invariant under corrected T-duality rules, which we derive explicitly.

AdS3 string theory in the stringy regime k = (R AdS /ℓ s )2 < 1 provides a laboratory for the study of holography in which both sides of AdS/CFT duality are under fairly good control.

Schur-Weyl duality as an instrument of Gauge-String duality [PDF]
A class of mathematical dualities have played a central role in mapping states in gauge theory to states in the spacetime string theory dual. This includes the classical Schur-Weyl duality between symmetric groups and Unitary groups, as well as generalisations involving Brauer and Hecke algebras.

A nonabelian particle–vortex duality
We define a nonabelian particle–vortex duality as a 3-dimensional analogue of the usual 2-dimensional worldsheet nonabelian T-duality. The transformation is defined in the presence of a global SU(2) symmetry and, although derived from a string theoretic ...

Duality Symmetries of 4D Heterotic Strings [PDF]
Target space duality (T duality), which interchanges Kaluza--Klein and winding-mode excitations of the compactified heterotic string, is realized as a symmetry of a world-sheet action. Axion-dilaton duality (S duality), a conjectured nonperturbative SL(2,Z) symmetry of the same theory, plays an analogous role for five-branes.

Spinor–Vector Duality and Mirror Symmetry
Mirror symmetry was first observed in worldsheet string constructions, and was shown to have profound implications in the Effective Field Theory (EFT) limit of string compactifications, and for the properties of Calabi–Yau manifolds.
