Free field theory as a string theory? [PDF]

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Physique, 2004
An approach to systematically implement open-closed string duality for free large N gauge theories is summarised. We show how the relevant closed string moduli space emerges from a reorganisation of the Feynman diagrams contributing to free field correlators.

Local string field theory [PDF]

open access: yesXIVth International Congress on Mathematical Physics, 2006
We consider open bosonic strings. The non-interacting multi-string theory is described by certain free string field operators which we construct. These are shown to have local commutators with respect to a center of mass coordinate. The construction is carried out both in the light cone gauge and in a covariant formulation.

STRING FIELD THEORY

open access: yesPhysics Reports, 1989
Abstract We present an account of string field theory which aims to introduce the reader to the important concepts of the subjects as well as to aid access to the literature. Light cone string theory is briefly reviewed, but the emphasis is on the covariant approach exploiting world sheet BRST invariance to define string field derivations ...

String cosmology — Large-field inflation in string theory [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2015
This is a short review of string cosmology. We wish to connect string-scale physics as closely as possible to observables accessible to current or near-future experiments. Our possible best hope to do so is a description of inflation in string theory. The energy scale of inflation can be as high as that of Grand Unification (GUT). If this is the case,

STRING FIELDS AS LIMIT OF FUNCTIONS AND SURFACE TERMS IN STRING FIELD THEORY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 1989
We consider the String Field Theory proposed by Witten in the discretized approach, where the string is considered as the limit N → ∞ of a collection of N points. In this picture the string functional is the limit of a succession of functions of an increasing number of variables; an object with some resemblances to distributions. Attention is drawn to

On the classical string solutions and string/field theory duality [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2003
Based on the recently considered classical string configurations, in the framework of the semiclassical limit of the string/gauge theory correspondence, we describe a procedure for obtaining exact classical string solutions in general string theory backgrounds, when the string embedding coordinates depend nonlinearly on the worldsheet spatial ...

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Field theory questions for string theory answers [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1997
We discuss the field theory of 3-brane probes in F-theory compactifications in two configurations, generalizing the work of Sen and of Banks, Douglas and Seiberg. One configuration involves several parallel 3-brane probes in F-theory compactified on $T^4/Z_2$, while the other involves a compactification of F-theory on $T^6/Z_2 x Z_2$ (which includes ...
