Combining machine learning and probabilistic statistical learning is a powerful way to discover and design new materials. A variety of machine learning approaches can be used to identify promising candidates for target applications, and causal inference can help identify potential ways to make them a reality.

Large Language Model in Materials Science: Roles, Challenges, and Strategic Outlook
Large language models (LLMs) are reshaping materials science. Acting as Oracle, Surrogate, Quant, and Arbiter, they now extract knowledge, predict properties, gauge risk, and steer decisions within a traceable loop. Overcoming data heterogeneity, hallucinations, and poor interpretability demands domain‐adapted models, cross‐modal data standards, and ...

This article describes the integration of compliant bi‐stability in continuum robots. This integration leads to two variants of compliant bistable mechanism (CBM) integrated continuum robot segments, extending and locking. Results show that when used together, these CBM‐integrated segments allow the continuum robot to form custom shapes.

ABSTRACT To further understand the inter‐relationship of the familial transmission of major depression (MD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD), we examine, via a multivariable Cox proportional hazards model, risks for AUD and MD in 1,244,516 individuals born in Sweden from 1970 to 1990 to intact mother–father pairs as a function of parental diagnoses of MD

The ligand exchange between cyanide and hydroxide in hexacyanochromate negolyte was caused by the disruption of coordination environment of the redox mediator ([Cr(CN)6]4‐/3−), with a critical factor as an elevated pH during electrochemical cycle. To mitigate this electrolyte co‐modulation strategy is introduced, optimizing the [OH−]/[CN−] ratios ...
