Free Field Construction of D-Branes in Rational Models of CFT and Gepner Models

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2008
This is a review article of my recent papers on free field construction of D-branes in N = 2 superconformal minimal models and Gepner models.

Ferrocene‐Based Self‐Assembled Monolayers Enable Ultra‐High Specific Detectivity in Perovskite Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report perovskite photodetectors with record specific detectivities exceeding 1013 Jones with a novel molecular design strategy to functionalize self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) with ferrocene (Fc) derivatives. Fc‐SAM‐based devices also exhibit strong operational stability and enable data transmission rates exceeding 1 Mbps in a LiFi system ...

1T‐to‐2H Phase Evolution During Epitaxial Growth of Transition Metal Dichalcogenides

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
During MOCVD growth of MoS2 and WSe2, a transient metallic 1T phase emerges in early, edge‐rich, chalcogen‐deficient domains and declines as the films ultimately coalesce as 2H material. Together, experiments and ReaxFF simulations link domain size, edge stoichiometry, and vacancies to this evolution.

Mechanoactive Biomaterials for Cell–Matrix Mechanotransduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract shows how individual triggers (force, light, or temperature) and combined optothermal or receptor‐targeted actuation induce material responses at the tissue, cellular, and receptor scales. Their spatial (global or focused) and temporal (continuous or cyclic) modulation determines the resulting mechanical output.

Low Strings Drama (Published Score)

open access: yes, 2023
Low Strings Drama is conceived as a programmatic musical drama for viola and violoncello. Articulating through eleven variations, it develops melodic ideas and chord sequences exposed in the first movement.

Toward Perception‐Native Electronic Skin: Bio‐Inspired In‐/Near‐Sensor and Neuromorphic Computing for Humanoid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Dense tactile streams from across the humanoid body converge on collide in a central wiring and data bottleneck. By relocating computation closer to and then into the skin itself, near‐ and in‐sensor architectures, together with neuromorphic computing, chart a path toward perception‐native electronic skin, in which the conversion of stimulus into ...

Numerical and experimental studies of stick-slip oscillations in drill-strings

open access: yes, 2017
The cyclic nature of the stick-slip phenomenon may cause catastrophic failures in drill-strings or at the very least could lead to the wear of expensive equipment.

A string theory which isn’t about strings

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
Quantization of closed string proceeds with a suitable choice of worldsheet vacuum. A priori, the vacuum may be chosen independently for left-moving and right-moving sectors.

Energy-based control of bidirectional vehicle strings

open access: yes, 2013
It is shown how some classes of symmetric bidirectional heterogeneous vehicle strings can be modelled using a Hamiltonian framework. Hamiltonian systems theory is applied to show stability and string stability of certain vehicle strings. We also indicate
