Modelling of twin‐roll strip casting processes

open access: yesCommunications in Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2003
AbstractIn this work, a twin‐roll strip casting industrial process is analysed using a fixed‐mesh finite element formulation able to deal with unsteady incompressible thermally coupled flows including phase‐change and non‐Newtonian effects assumed to account for the flow behaviour during the whole cooling conditions.

Rapidly Solidified High‐Strength Invar 36 Prepared by Planar‐Flow Melt Spinning

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The Invar 36 alloy was rapidly solidified using the planar‐flow melt‐spinning technique. Ribbon samples with thicknesses ranging from 20 to 160 mm were produced. As the grain size of the ribbon decreased to sub‐micron levels, the hardness increased by more than 2 times.

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

Research on calculation model of rolling force in twin roll inclined strip casting process

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2021
For the twin roll inclined strip casting process, the tilt angle function is introduced to describe the casting process, and the mathematical model of the calculation of the rolling force coupled with the tilt angle function is proposed, and the ...

Effect of Nano-Sized TiC-TiB2 on Microstructure and Properties of Twin-Roll Cast Al-Cu-Mn-Zr Alloy

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Al-5Cu-0.8Mn-0.1Zr strips produced during a twin-roll-casting process are investigated in this paper. Central segregation does occur in the alloy strip, and the segregation is a mixture of Al2Cu and Al20Cu2Mn3 eutectic phases.

Wearable Smart Patches on Sustainable Chitosan With Reversible Microbial Growth‐Inhibitory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chitosan, a polysaccharide upcycled from biowaste, has long promised sustainable, biocompatible, and antimicrobial films and devices, an appeal reinforced by its recent regulatory recognition, with several chitosan‐based antibacterial dressings gaining clearance through the Food and Drug Administration's 510(k) pathway.

Numerical simulation and experimental research on cracking mechanism of twin-roll strip casting

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2022
Based on the three-dimensional field of molten pool and twin-roll strip casting experiments, this work verified the cracking mechanism of the strip by establishing mathematical model and rolling experiments. The results showed that due to the instability
