Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Prediction Model of Strip Crown in Hot Rolling Process Based on Machine Learning and Industrial Data

open access: yesMetals, 2023
The strip crown in hot rolling has the characteristics of multivariablity, strong coupling and, nonlinearity. It is difficult to describe accurately using a traditional mechanism model.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Applying crystallographic orientation analysis for exploring deformation mechanism of 6.5 wt.% Si electrical strip during twin-roll thin strip casting process

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2021
The study described here is aimed at illuminating deformation mechanism involved in Twin-roll Thin Strip Casting Process (TRSC) with respect to high-permeability 6.5 wt.% Si electrical strip (6.5 wt.% Si strip) in terms of crystal plasticity (CP) theory,

Relationship of structure and stiffness in laminated bamboo composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Laminated bamboo in structural applications has the potential to change the way buildings are constructed. The fibrous microstructure of bamboo can be modelled as a fibre-reinforced composite.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Study on the Pressure-Bearing Law of Backfilling Material Based on Three-Stage Strip Backfilling Mining

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
During strip backfilling mining in coal mines, the backfilling material is the main support structure. Therefore, studying the pressure law of the backfilling material is essential for the safe and efficient mining of coal resources.

The Critical Ising Model on a M\"obius Strip

open access: yes, 1997
We study the two-dimensional critical Ising model on a M\"obius strip based on a duality relation between conformally invariant boundary conditions.

Stripping Voltammetry at Microdisk Electrode Arrays: Theory

open access: yesElectroanalysis, 2009
AbstractAnodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) is an extremely powerful tool for detection of metal ions in solution through a two step process of preconcentration of the metal at the electrode surface, followed by electrodissolution. The second phase produces an electroanalytical response proportional to the amount of material deposited in the first phase.
