Modern Hot-Strip Mill Thickness Control
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1986The design and implementation of a hot-strip steel mill thickness control system is discussed. The use of structured design techniques and well-tuned control loops produced a thickness control system of world-class performance. A high-level software design approach provided the ability to make quick and accurate modifications to both control loops and ...

Shielding effect of a strip of finite thickness
Electrical Engineering, 2005The paper deals with the evaluation of the shielding efficiency of a finite thickness strip, powered by an external line of current. The analysis is performed by estimating the current induced on the strip, by means of an effective expansion factorizing the right edge behaviour, according to the Meixner condition: such a choice simplifies the numerical

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1984
Abstract Silicon strip detectors with thicknesses between 3 and 5 mm were made from Li-compensated and high-resistivity material. The n-type rear contact was obtained through Li-diffusion. The p-type entrance contact was realized by boron implantation and divided into strips, having widths between 200 μm and 3.4 mm.

Diffraction of a plane wave by a thick strip grating
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1989The diffraction of a plane electromagnetic wave by a thick strip grating is solved rigorously by the Wiener-Hopf technique. The solution contains an infinite number of unknowns, which are shown to satisfy a certain infinite set of equations. By applying the modified residue calculus technique, this set of equations is solved and the approximate ...

Thickness and marking characteristics of occlusal registration strips
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1985T he practice of clinically marking and evaluating occlusal patterns or “high spots” has been empirical to dentistry. Dentists have used ink, silk ribbon with colorants, colored paper, plastic strips with colorants, and wax to visualize occlusal contacts. Little has been reported on the accuracy of the registration materials.
