Background: Members of family Enterobacteriaceae can acquire resistance to extended spectrum beta lactams by a number of mechanisms; most important being the plasmid encoded extended spectrum beta lactamase (ESBL) and AmpC beta lactamase. This study has

Statistics of Feynman amplitudes in ϕ 4-theory
The amplitude of subdivergence-free logarithmically divergent Feynman graphs in ϕ 4-theory in 4 spacetime dimensions is given by a single number, the Feynman period. We numerically compute the periods of 1.3 million completed graphs, this represents more

Strong gravitational lensing is a useful probe of both the intrinsic properties of the lenses and the cosmological parameters of the universe. The large number of model parameters and small sample of observed lens systems, however, have made it difficult

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Limitations of the number selfconsistent Random Phase Approximation [PDF]
The Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation equations are solved taking into account the Pauli Principle at the expectation value level, and allowing changes in the mean field occupation numbers to minimize the energy while having the correct number of ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Sphingolipids in Type 1 Diabetes: Focus on Beta-Cells
Type 1 diabetes (T1DM) is a chronic autoimmune disease, with a strong genetic background, leading to a gradual loss of pancreatic beta-cells, which secrete insulin and control glucose homeostasis.

Search for non-Poissonian behavior in nuclear beta-decay
We performed two independent counting experiments on a beta-emitting source of Sm151 by measuring the gamma-photon emitted in a fraction of the decays.

New Evidence for Efficient Collisionless Heating of Electrons at the Reverse Shock of a Young Supernova Remnant [PDF]
Although collisionless shocks are ubiquitous in astrophysics, certain key aspects of them are not well understood. In particular, the process known as collisionless electron heating, whereby electrons are rapidly energized at the shock front, is one of ...
