Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Structural, Mechanical and Optical Properties of Plasma-chemical Si-C-N Films [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2014
An influence of the substrate temperature in the range of 40-400 °C on the properties of the Si-C-N films deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) technique using hexamethyldisilazane is analyzed.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Structural and Mechanical Properties of Nanocrystalline Fe60Al30Cu10 (at.%) Powders Prepared by Mechanical Alloying

open access: yesGazi Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi, 2019
In the present study, the nanostructured Fe(Al,Cu) solid solution was synthesized by mechanical alloying (MA) process of the elemental powders. The powder mixtures were milled in a planetary ball mill for various periods of time, up to 50 h.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Carbon nanotubes for epoxy Nanocomposites: a review on recent developments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are one of the strongest and stiffest engineering fibres. Due to their unique combination of chemical and physical properties at an incredibly small size, they possess great potential to be used as nanofillers for many structural ...
