Assessment of First-Principles and Semiempirical Methodologies for Absorption and Emission Energies of Ce$^{3+}$-Doped Luminescent Materials

open access: yes, 2017
In search of a reliable methodology for the prediction of light absorption and emission of Ce$^{3+}$-doped luminescent materials, 13 representative materials are studied with first-principles and semiempirical approaches. In the first-principles approach,

Microscopic Mechanism of Doping-Induced Kinetically Constrained Crystallization in Phase-Change Materials. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A comprehensive microscopic mechanism of doping-induced kinetically constrained crystallization in phase-change materials is provided by investigating structural and dynamical dopant characteristics via ab initio molecular dynamics simulations.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.

Base extrusion is found at helical junctions between right- and left-handed forms of DNA and RNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Base extrusion is a major structural feature at the junction between B- and Z-DNA (the B–Z junction) where a base pair is broken, and the two bases are extruded from the double helix. Despite the demonstration of base extrusion at the B–Z junction, it is
