Lists of Chemical Warfare Agents and Precursors from International Nonproliferation Frameworks: Structural Annotation and Chemical Fingerprint Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Information and Modeling, 2020
To support efforts to stem the proliferation of chemical weapons (CW), we have curated and structurally annotated CW-control lists from the three key international nonproliferation frameworks: the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), the Australia Group ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-3-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-amine

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
The synthesis of the title compound, C16H15N3O, is regiospecific and single-crystal X-ray diffraction provides the only means of unambiguous structural analysis, with the benzene ring bonded to the imine C atom. The phenyl ring and the essentially planar

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

(R)-2-Benzyl-4-methylpentyl (R)-2-methoxy-2-(1-naphthyl)propionate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
The relative configuration of the alcohol component in the title ester, C27H32O3, has been assigned as (R) from the known configuration of (R)-(−)-2-methoxy-2-(1-naphthyl)propionic acid [(R)-MαNP acid].

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Long-term-stability of relationship structure in family groups of common marmosets, and its link to proactive prosociality [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiology & Behavior, 2017
Cooperatively breeding, group-living common marmosets show differentiated relationships, where more strongly bonded dyads within a group engage more in affiliative interactions than less strongly bonded ones. Intriguingly, recent results suggest that strong bonds do not only occur between breeding partners but between individuals from any sex or status,
