Structural Model of Eumelanin [PDF]
Melanin is a ubiquitous pigment in living organisms with multiple important functions, yet its structure is not well understood. We propose a structural model for eumelanin protomolecules, consisting of 4 or 5 of the basic molecular units (hydroquinone, indolequinone, and its tautomers), in arrangements that contain an inner porphyrin ring. We use time-

From Models of Structures to Structures of Models [PDF]
The complexity of industrial systems is steadily increasing. To face this complexity, the different engineering disciplines are designing models. These models are complex as they reflect the complexity of systems under study. Therefore, they need to be structured.

Structural Thermokinetic Modelling
To translate metabolic networks into dynamic models, the Structural Kinetic Modelling framework (SKM) assumes a given reference state and replaces the reaction elasticities in this state by random numbers. A new variant, called Structural Thermokinetic Modelling (STM), accounts for reversible reactions and thermodynamics.

A structured language model [PDF]
The paper presents a language model that develops syntactic structure and uses it to extract meaningful information from the word history, thus enabling the use of long distance dependencies. The model assigns probability to every joint sequence of words - binary-parse-structure with headword annotation.

A Structural Retirement Model [PDF]
The model analyzed here constrains most work on the main job to be full time. Partial retirement requires a job change and a wage reduction.Estimates of utility function parameters and their distributions incorporate information on age of leaving the main job and of full retirement.

Protein Structure Modeling with MODELLER
Genome sequencing projects have resulted in a rapid increase in the number of known protein sequences. In contrast, only about one-hundredth of these sequences have been characterized at atomic resolution using experimental structure determination methods.

Models of chromosome structure [PDF]
Understanding the mechanisms that control chromosome folding in the nucleus of eukaryotes and their contribution to gene regulation is a key open issue in molecular biology. Microscopy and chromatin-capture techniques have shown that chromatin has a complex organization, which dynamically changes across organisms and cell types.

Structural model for interferons
Secondary structures of leucocyte α1‐ and α2‐interferons and of fibroblast β‐interferon are calculated using the molecular theory of protein secondary structures. The common secondary structure calculated for α‐ and β‐interferons is used to predict the three‐dimensional structures of fragments 1–110 and 111–166 of the chains (which are supposed to be ...

Structural equation modeling (SEM) is a multivariate statistical framework that is used to model complex relationships between directly observed and indirectly observed (latent) variables. SEM is a general framework that involves simultaneously solving systems of linear equations and encompasses other techniques such as regression, factor analysis ...
