Analytical modeling of rotor-structure coupling using modal decomposition for the structure and the blades. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper presents a linear semi-analytical model that is able to predict complex rotor-structure coupling phenomena and their stability. It was primarily designed so as to gain a better physical understanding of this kind of aeroelastic instabilities ...

Flexural behavior of RC beams strengthened with CFRP sheets and ECC layers

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
To further enhance the flexural capacity and ductility of reinforced concrete (RC) beams, this study proposes an innovative strengthening method. This approach, referred to as Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) and Engineered Cementitious Composite ...

Structural Basis for the Interaction between p53 Transactivation Domain and the Mediator Subunit MED25

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Eukaryotic transcription initiation is mediated by interactions between transcriptional activators and the mediator coactivator complex. Molecular interaction of p53 transcription factor with mediator complex subunit 25 (MED25) is essential for its ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Evaluation of thermal effects in high-speed shifting tillage operations on share-point wear in sandy loam soil

open access: yesScientific Reports
A share-point is a cutting edge of the ploughshare, the crucial component of a horizontally reversible plough (HRP). Our previous trials in sandy loam soil indicated that severe abrasion/attrition wear with white materials appeared at the share-point ...
