Dulmage-Mendelsohn Percolation: Geometry of Maximally Packed Dimer Models and Topologically Protected Zero Modes on Site-Diluted Bipartite Lattices

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2022
The classic combinatorial construct of maximum matchings probes the random geometry of regions with local sublattice imbalance in a site-diluted bipartite lattice.

Flavor symmetries and the topology of special Kähler structures at rank 1

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We propose a method for determining the flavor charge lattice of the continuous flavor symmetry of rank-1 4d N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2 superconformal field theories (SCFTs) and IR free gauge theories from topological invariants of the special Kähler ...

Phase structure of U(1) lattice gauge theory with a monopole term [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1998
We investigate four-dimensional compact U(1) lattice gauge theory with a monopole term added to the Wilson action. First we consider the phase structure at negative $ $, revealing some properties of a third phase region there, in particular the existence of a number of different states.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Finite temperature phase transition in a cross-dimensional triangular lattice

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
Atomic many-body phase transitions and quantum criticality have recently attracted much attention in non-standard optical lattices. Here we perform an experimental study of finite temperature superfluid transition of bosonic atoms confined in a three ...

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Geometric algebra and algebraic geometry of loop and Potts models

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We uncover a connection between two seemingly separate subjects in integrable models: the representation theory of the affine Temperley-Lieb algebra, and the algebraic structure of solutions to the Bethe equations of the XXZ spin chain.

Hexagonal optical lattices formed by coherent interference among three fundamental Gaussian beams with oblique incidence

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
Hexagonal optical lattices (HOLs) are formed when three beams with oblique incidence coherently interfere with each other. Theoretical model considering the orientation of three fundamental Gaussian beams is established to describe all kinds of patterns ...

Structure theory of faithful rings. I. Closure operations on lattices [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1957
A ring having no nonzero left annihilator will be called a faithful ring. Thus, if R is a faithful ring, aRlDO for every nonzero a in R. This series of papers is concerned with the structure theory of faithful rings satisfying various types of minimum conditions. The first paper of the series gives the lattice-theoretic background of our work.
