Validation of an ELISA assay for measurement of the metabolite of serotonin, 5‐hydroxyindole acetic acid (5‐HIAA), in canine urine

open access: yesJournal of Small Animal Practice, Volume 67, Issue 8, Page 680-685, August 2026.
Objectives Serotonin (5‐hydroxytryptophan), implicated in a number of canine diseases, has a very short half‐life in the serum. Urine concentration of its breakdown product 5‐hydroxyindole acetic acid after an 8 hour fast is a more reliable measure of circulating serotonin in humans.

Lighting the anaerobic digestion process in rural areas: obtainment of struvite from bovine manure digestate

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Biotecnología, 2018
The objective of this research was to obtain struvite from digested matter from a bio rural digester fed with bovine manure. To determine operating variables to recover struvite (PO43- and NH4+ ions), researchers developed an experiment design in which ...

Phosphorus Recovery from Municipal Wastewater: Brucite from MgO Hydrothermal Treatment as Magnesium Source

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
Crystallization of struvite (MgNH4PO4·6H2O, MAPH) for both N and P recovery from municipal wastewater is an attractive alternative. The low magnesium concentration in municipal wastewater calls for low-cost magnesium sources.

Conservative Management Enabling Spontaneous Passage of an Idiopathic Primary Spontaneous Enterolith: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Enterolithiasis—formation of stone concretions within the gastrointestinal tract—is an uncommon and underrecognized cause of intermittent abdominal symptoms and acute bowel obstruction. Primary (true) enteroliths originate within the bowel lumen and are usually associated with focal stasis from anatomic or inflammatory pathology; idiopathic ...

Struvite Formation from Wastewater: Affecting Factors and Nutrient Recovery

open access: yesGeoScience Engineering, 2018
Never human being has to face such a serious lack of phosphorus and pollutants from human activities. Nutrient recovery from wastewater is a new trend which attracts the interests of several researchers.

Struvite Production From Wastewater: Effect of Magnesium‐to‐Ammonia Ratio and Stirring Velocity on Precipitation Efficiency and Settling Behavior

open access: yesCLEAN – Soil, Air, Water, Volume 54, Issue 7, July 2026.
This study demonstrates that stoichiometric Mg2+:PO43− excess (1.1:1) and slow 10‐min dosing are critical for maintaining low supersaturation, yielding large crystals (>0.84 mm) and rapid settling (5.5–10.1 cm/min). This strategy optimizes nutrient recovery (≥80%) and solid–liquid separation without flocculants, proving viable for complex industrial ...

Nutrient and carbon partitioning and performance for swine manure management technologies

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 55, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Swine manure management systems (MMSs) are critical for nutrient cycling. Common swine MMS storage types in the United States are deep pits, anaerobic lagoons, and slurry storages. This study presents a synthesis of literature documenting nutrient and carbon (C) partitioning via a material mass balance approach for four manure treatment ...

Kinetika Pembentukan Struvite Kristal Menggunakan Zeolit Alam sebagai Adsorben pada Aeration Cone Column Crystallizer

open access: yesJurnal Rekayasa Proses, 2020
Wastewater from the fertilizer industry contains a high concentration of PO43- and NH4+. Those ions formed deposits that frequently clogged the conduits and reduced the pump efficiency of the wastewater treatment plant.
