Subacute encephalopathic toxicity of cisplatin
Lung Cancer, 1995Acute blindness or seizures are usually the first signs of central neurotoxicity from cisplatin. We report a case of subacute neurotoxicity caused by cisplatin. Progressive encephalopathy and partial loss of vision were the main observed signs. This condition was completely reversible upon cisplatin discontinuation, as is usually the case with acute ...

Acute and subacute toxicity of dimethoate
Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1961Summary Dimethoate is among the less toxic organic phosphate insecticides. The acute oral LD 50 for rats is of the order of 200 mg/kg for both sexes. The compound is not readily absorbed through skin and is not irritating to skin or eyes. There is no evidence that mixtures of dimethoate with various other organic phosphate compounds exhibit greater-

Subacute toxicity of hexachlorobenzene in the rat
Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1977Abstract Male and female rats of the Charles River strain were fed a commercial diet supplemented with 5% corn oil. Hexachlorobenzene (HCB) was added to the corn oil to give 0, 0.5, 2, 8, or 32 mg of HCB/day/kg/body weight. Subgroups of four rats of each sex were killed at 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 weeks of feeding.

Subacute toxicity of Toluidine Red
Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1968Abstract Toluidine Red (formerly D & C Red No. 35) was fed to groups of 10 Osborne-Mendel rats for 90 days at dietary levels of 0.0, 0.25, 0.50, 1.0, and 2.0%. No effect was observed on mortality, growth, or hematology. In females the liver to body weight ratios were increased at the 1.0% feeding level and in males at the 0.25, 0.50, and 2.0% levels.

Subacute toxicity of basalin® in rats
Toxicology Letters, 1983Basalin, a herbicide, was administered orally to male rats at doses ranging from 60 mg to 1.92 g/kg for 13 weeks. Oral LD50 of the compound was 1.65 g/kg. Toxic effects included hyperexcitability and tremors. The cumulative lethal dose (CLD50) at the end of week 13 was 135 mg/kg with a cumulative toxicity factor (CTF) of 12.22. At 1.92 g/kg, no animals

Subacute toxicity of Zwittergent administered intramuscularly
Vaccine, 1989In order to assess the systemic toxicity of Zwittergent 3-14, a detergent used in the protein-detergent complex vaccines for its attractive immunogenic properties, a subacute toxicity study was performed. In this 4-week toxicity experiment five female and five male rats per group were injected intramuscularly with 0.25 ml of 0, 75, 750 and 7500 ...

Subacute toxicity of methylmercury in the adult cat
Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1974A dose of 0.25 mg Hg/kg/day was administered po to 2 groups of cats for 12–14 weeks, either as pure methylmercuric chloride or as methylmercury-contaminated fish. A control group received a diet containing uncontaminated fish. Clinical signs of methylmercury intoxication consisting of ataxia, intention tremor and impaired righting reflex and ...

Acute and subacute toxicity of octachlorostyrene in the rat
Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, 1982This study was designed to investigate the acute and subacute toxicity of octachlorostyrene (OCS), a demonstrated environmental pollutant in fish from the Great Lakes and off the Norwegian coast in Europe. In an acute study, groups of 10 male rats were given by gavage single doses of OCS at 1300, 1690, 2190, 2850, or 3710 mg/kg and killed 14 d later ...

Subacute toxicity assessment of annatto in rat
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2004Increased human use of annatto (Bixa orellana L), a red yellow food colorant, demands generation of toxicity data. The toxic effects of annatto powder (bixin 27%) have been assessed following administration of a subacute regimen (4 weeks, 20 doses) in Wistar male and female rats.

Subacute toxicity of ergometrine maleate in rats
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 1996Ergot alkaloids, produced by the fungus Claviceps purpurea, are found in small amounts in foodstuffs. The human disease ergotism, caused by high intake of ergot alkaloids, is well known; however, little is known about the toxicity of these compounds. The subacute toxicity of an ergot alkaloid, ergometrine maleate, was therefore studied.
