The Subacute Inhalation Toxicity of 109 Industrial Chemicals [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 1970
Gage, J. C. (1970).Brit. J. industr. Med.,27, 1-18. The subacute inhalation toxicity of 109 industrial chemicals. The inhalation toxicity of 109 substances has been studied by exposing experimental animals to known concentrations in air for periods of about three weeks. The toxic properties of these substances are reviewed in relation to the effects of

Prediction of subsequent seizures after acute symptomatic seizures in critically ill children: A clinical–electroencephalographic model

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective We aimed to determine the risk of subsequent seizure or epilepsy diagnosis after acute symptomatic seizures (ASyS) in critically ill children, evaluate whether antiseizure medication (ASM) use is associated with subsequent seizure/epilepsy diagnosis, and develop a simple Seizure/Epilepsy Risk Score to predict subsequent seizure ...

CLINICAL AND HAEMATOLOGICAL STUDIES ON EXPERIMENTALLY INDUCED SELENOSIS IN CROSSBRED COW CALVES [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Veterinary Journal, 2005
The effect of sodium selenite induced subacute and chronic toxicity on clinical and haematological parameters was studied in cross-bred cow calves. Subacute and chronic selenosis was induced by oral administration of sodium selenite at dose rate of 2.5 ...

Nutraceutical Benefits of Anchomanes difformis Rhizome and Its Effects on Blood Glucose and Hepatorenal Function in Normoglycemic Rats

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Scientific analysis of Anchomanes difformis roots confirms significant nutraceutical potential, containing high levels of carbohydrates, proteins, and essential minerals. Phytochemical screening revealed antioxidants such as phenols and flavonoids, and although the extracts effectively lowered plasma glucose, safety testing showed dose‐dependent risks.

Safety and Metabolic Effects of Withania somnifera Seed Extract and Powder in Rats: Insights From DPP‐4 Molecular Docking

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Withania somnifera seed extract and powder improved metabolic parameters in rats, particularly at higher extract doses, without evident hepatic, renal, hematological, or histopathological toxicity. Molecular docking further predicted strong DPP‐4 inhibitory potential of withanone, supporting the antidiabetic potential of W. somnifera seeds.

Biochemical and Molecular Insights Into Monocrotaline‐Induced Hepatotoxicity: An Experimental Mouse Study

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Monocrotaline (MCT), a plant‐derived pyrrolizidine alkaloid, is well known for its hepatotoxic effects. However, full elucidation of the mechanisms underlying MCT‐induced hepatotoxicity, as well as the development of reliable biomarkers for early detection and monitoring, requires an integrated evaluation of biochemical, molecular, and ...

Redox‐Associated Renal and Male Reproductive Alterations Following Dexamethasone Exposure in Male Rats: Histopathological and Spermatological Evaluations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dexamethasone (DEX) is widely used in clinical practice, although it may also cause oxidative stress–related damage in different tissues, including the kidney and male reproductive system. This study investigated DEX‐induced renal and reproductive injury in rats and evaluated the modulatory effect of reduced glutathione on DEX‐associated redox

The 5R's of large language model‐assisted diagnosis: A practical framework for hospitalists

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Diagnostic error remains a major patient safety challenge in hospital medicine. Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly used by clinicians to aid in diagnosis, yet most lack a structured approach for doing so safely and effectively. In this piece, we propose a practical, clinician‐centered framework for LLM‐assisted diagnosis.
