Numerical simulation of subcooled boiling in a vertical pipe with twisted tape inserts [PDF]
Subcooled flow boiling occurs in many industrial applications and it is characterized by a large heat transfer coefficient. In this paper, numerical simulation of subcooled flow boiling in a vertical pipe is investigated by ANSYS CFX 14.

Implementation of the mechanistic wall boiling model in IC engine cooling gallery simulation
The ever increasing power rates of modern IC engines pose a great challenge for maintaining the optimal temperature conditions. The current trend in the thermal management of IC engines is to utilize the limited and controlled nucleate boiling to achieve

Walks of bubbles on a hot wire in a liquid bath
When a horizontal resistive wire is heated up to the boiling point in a subcooled liquid bath, some vapor bubbles nucleate on its surface. Traditional nucleate boiling theory predicts that bubbles generated from active nucleate sites, grow up and depart ...

Gravity independent subcooled flow boiling heat transfer regime
Abstract Using an existing model for vapor bubble detachment, a subcooled flow boiling regime was identified where vapor bubble dynamics are independent of the gravitational field. The Jakob number and a dimensionless flow parameter were used to identify the boundaries of this regime.

Subcooled boiling incipience on a highly smooth microheater
Abstract Subcooled boiling incipience on a highly smooth microscale heater (270 μm × 270 μm) submerged in FC-72 liquid is investigated. Using high-speed imaging and a transient heat flux measurement technique, the mechanics of homogeneous nucleation on the heater are elucidated.
