Subcooled Boiling of Surfactant Solutions
Heat Transfer: Volume 4, 2000Abstract During subcooled boiling of pure water and water with cationic surfactants, the motion of bubbles and the temperature of the heated surface were recorded by both a high-speed video camera and an infrared radiometer. The results show that the bubble behavior and the heat transfer mechanism for the surfactant are quite different ...

Subcooled Flow Boiling in a Minichannel
Heat Transfer Engineering, 2009It has been considered that the dry-out is easy to occur in boiling heat transfer for a small channel, a mini or microchannel because the channel was easily filled with coalescing vapor bubbles. In the present study, the experiments of subcooled flow boiling of water were performed under atmospheric condition for a horizontal rectangular channel of ...

CFD-modelling of subcooled boiling
Kerntechnik, 2013Abstract In this paper new developments in the framework of a common project simulating subcooled boiling are described. The computational model used combines the Euler/Euler two-phase flow description with heat flux partitioning. Main achievements were a comprehensive study of the boiling process itself and a better description of the ...

Visualization of boiling of subcooled water
High Temperature, 2011Data of high-speed photography of boiling of subcooled water on stainless steel foil at atmospheric pressure, heat flowrate relative to 6 MW/m2, subcooling of up to the saturation temperature of 45–75°C, and water flow velocities of 0.4 m/s are presented.

Highly Subcooled Boiling in Crossflow
Journal of Heat Transfer, 2001Experiments were carried out to determine the influence of fluid flow and liquid subcooling on flow boiling heat transfer of Freon-113 across horizontal tubes. The data cover wide ranges of velocity (1.5 to 6.9 m/s) and extremely high levels of liquid subcooling (29 to 100°C) at pressures ranging from 122 to 509 kPa.

Transportphenomena in subcooled flow boiling
Heat and Mass Transfer, 2010Subcooled boiling has been subject of extensive research studies in the literature. So far, the approach of studying the phenomena of subcooled boiling has rather been an integral method by measuring the heat transport from the wall to the liquid and by following the growth and collapse of the bubbles.

Peculiarities of boiling in subcooled flow
Thermal Engineering, 2009Peculiarities of heat transfer during boiling in high-velocity flow subcooled relative to the saturation temperature are analyzed. Flow structure is analyzed. Boiling in swirled flow and boiling in flow heated on one side are considered.

Forced Convection Subcooled Boiling
2021Boiling of subcooled liquids can occur if the heating surface temperature exceeds the saturation temperature. Heat transfer coefficients in subcooled boiling are considerably higher than in single-phase convection. Many heat exchangers operate exclusively in the subcooled regime.

A correlation to predict chf in subcooled flow boiling
International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 1995The present paper provides a discussion of the thermal-hydraulics requirements in fusion reactor components, with particular reference to the removal of high heat flux from plasma facing components and the critical heat flux (CHF) limit. Available experimental data on CHF of subcooled flow boiling in water, in the ranges of interest of fusion reactors ...

Numerical Simulation on Subcooled Pool Boiling
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010In this paper, the numerical simulations based on the MARS (Multi-interface Advection and Reconstruction Solver) with a phase-change model including the bubble growth and the condensation processes are performed. As the results, it was found that the numerical results for both bubble growth and condensation rates were very slow compared with the ...
