Characterization of the polarity of subcritical water

Journal of Chromatography A, 2017
The polarity of subcritical water was studied solvatochromically with betaine dye (33) across a temperature range of 30°C-180°C and a pressure range of 13.8bar (200psi) to 124bar (1800psi). It was observed that temperature has a greater effect than pressure on the polarity of subcritical water.

Kinetics of Maltooligosaccharide Hydrolysis in Subcritical Water

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2006
The kinetics of the hydrolysis of maltooligosaccharides with a degree of polymerization (DP) of 3-6 in subcritical water was studied using a tubular reactor at temperatures between 200 and 260 degrees C and at a constant pressure of 10 MPa. The maltooligosaccharide disappearance and product formation at residence times shorter than 50 s could be ...

Subcritical and supercritical water oxidation for dye decomposition

Journal of Environmental Management, 2021
The total annual output of synthetic dyes exceeds 7 × 105 tons. About 1,000 tons of non-biodegradable synthetic dyes are released every year into the natural streams and water sources from textile wastes. The release of these colored wastewater exerts negative impact on aquatic ecology and human beings because of the poisonous and carcinogenic ...

Electrolysis of glycerol in subcritical water

Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, 2009
Recently, there has been a rising interest for the disposal of biorelated components that cannot be treated easily by biological processes. Because of the development of biodiesel production, the production of by-products such as crude glycerol has increased dramatically.

Solubility of Parabens in Subcritical Water

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2014
The solubility of methyl, ethyl, and butyl parabens (4-hydroxybenzoate) in water was determined at (298, 373, 423, and 473) K using a homemade heating/mixing system and by high performance liquid chromatography analysis. The solubility increased for all three parabens studied when water temperature was raised from 298 K to 423 K.

Subcritical water processing for nanopharmaceuticals

Chemical Engineering and Processing - Process Intensification, 2019
Abstract Nanonization of poorly water-soluble drugs offers an efficient approach for enhancing the bioavailability of drugs where the solubility and dissolution rate are the main limitations. The solvent anti-solvent precipitation methods have been the most straightforward technique for producing ultrasmall drug nanoparticles with narrow size ...

Co-liquefaction of micro- and macroalgae in subcritical water

Bioresource Technology, 2013
Co-liquefaction of microalgae (Spirulina platensis, SP) and macroalgae (Entermorpha prolifera, EP) was studied in subcritical water by using a stainless-steel batch reactor at different temperature (250 to 370°C), time (5 to 120 min), SP/EP mass ratio (0 to 100%), and water/algae mass ratio (1:1 to 6:1). The results suggested that a positive synergetic

Carbon dioxide modified subcritical water chromatography

Journal of Chromatography A, 2008
A novel method of increasing the elution strength in subcritical water chromatography (SWC) by adding CO2 to the water mobile phase is presented. Since the polarity of water reduces dramatically with increasing temperature, this property is used in SWC to create an isocratic mobile phase with tunable elutropic strength in reversed-phase separations ...
