Hydrolysis of bamboo biomass by subcritical water treatment

Bioresource Technology, 2015
The aim of present study was to obtain total reducing sugars (TRS) from bamboo under subcritical water (SCW) treatment in a batch reactor at the temperature ranging from 170 °C to 220 °C and 40 min hydrolysis time. Experiments were performed to investigate the effects of temperature and time on TRS yield.

Catalytic upgrading of duckweed biocrude in subcritical water

Bioresource Technology, 2014
Herein, a duckweed biocrude produced from the hydrothermal liquefaction of Lemna minor was treated in subcritical water with added H₂. Effects of several different commercially available materials such as Ru/C, Pd/C, Pt/C, Pt/γ-Al₂O₃, Pt/C-sulfide, Rh/γ-Al₂O₃, activated carbon, MoS₂, Mo₂C, Co-Mo/γ-Al₂O₃, and zeolite on the yields of product fractions ...

Characterization of the subcritical water extraction of Fluoxetine-Hydrochloride

Journal of Chromatography A, 2012
The characteristics of using Subcritical Water Extraction (SWE) to recover Fluoxetine-Hydrochloride from both standard solutions and the contents of commercial capsule formulations were investigated. Analysis of solutions and extracts was done by HPLC with UV detection at 254 nm.

Hydrothermal decomposition of liquid crystal in subcritical water

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2014
Treatment of liquid crystal has important significance for the environment protection and human health. This study proposed a hydrothermal process to decompose the liquid crystal of 4-octoxy-4'-cyanobiphenyl. Experiments were conducted with a 5.7 mL stainless tube reactor and heated by a salt-bath. Factors affecting the decomposition rate of 4-octoxy-4'

Analysis of the Subcritical Carbon Dioxide−Water Interface

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2011
We follow the evolution of the H(2)O/CO(2) interface at 300 K from the low pressure limit to near-critical pressures in molecular dynamics simulations using the SPC water and EPM2 carbon dioxide models. The intrinsic structure of the interface is elucidated by accumulating density profiles relative to the fluctuating capillary wave surface.

Off-Line Coupling of Subcritical Water Extraction with Subcritical Water Chromatography via a Sorbent Trap and Thermal Desorption

Analytical Chemistry, 2003
In this study, the off-line coupling of subcritical water extraction (SBWE) with subcritical water chromatography (SBWC) was achieved using a sorbent trap and thermal desorption. The sorbent trap was employed to collect the extracted analytes during subcritical water extraction.

Polychlorinated biphenyls degradation in subcritical water

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017
In this work, the degradation of PCB-118, PCB-156, and PCB-180 congeners under subcritical conditions has been investigated. Stainless reaction vessels were used to carry out the heating of reaction mixtures. Liquid-liquid extraction of the reaction mixtures was conducted prior to GC analysis.

Subcritical Water Extraction of Biological Materials

Separation & Purification Reviews, 2016
Extraction is a vital prerequisite in most scientific studies involving the isolation and analysis of compounds from biological/environmental systems. The use of large quantities of organic solvents in performing both conventional and modern methods of extraction of these substances stirs issues of safety, environmental concern and cost-effectiveness ...

Solubility and Micronization of Griseofulvin in Subcritical Water

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2010
The technology developed in this work takes advantage of the temperature-sensitive dielectric constant of water to micronize hydrophobic compounds. At elevated temperatures subcritical water (SBCW) is a good solvent for nonpolar compounds, while at ordinary temperatures it behaves as an antisolvent.
