Modeling of the meso- and submesoscale dynamic processes in the Black sea coastal zones
The article presents an analysis of simulation results for the Black Sea circulation. The calculations were carried out with a horizontal resolution of 1.6~km and taking into account the real atmospheric forcing for 2006 and 2011. Eddies with characteristic mesoscale and submesoscale spatio-temporal parameters were reconstructed in the velocity fields.

Submesoscale Frontogenesis Drives Strong Finescale Tracer Subduction
Vertical exchange between the surface mixed layer (ML) and the interior is important for biogeochemistry and air–sea interaction. Focused observations have consistently shown that submesoscale processes (horizontal scales of 0.1–10 km) generate ...

Effects of the submesoscale on the potential vorticity budget of ocean mode waters
Non-conservative processes change the potential vorticity (PV) of the upper ocean, and later, through the subduction of surface waters into the interior, affect the general ocean circulation.

Nonlinear processes associated with oceanic submesoscales and atmospheric synoptic scales

Towards resolving the submesoscale and quantifying its role in the decay of Agulhas rings
Fine-scale processes (1–100 km) are the most energetic features of the ocean, influencing basin-scale and global circulation. They have a major impact on heat and salt transport and water mass distribution, regulate climate-critical air-sea fluxes, and ...

Submesoscale Processes and Mixing
In this chapter, we discuss the links between oceanic submesoscale (100 m–10 km) processes and mixing. Submesoscale currents occur on lateral scales of 100 m–10 km in the ocean and are associated with density fronts and filaments, vortices and topographic wakes at the surface and in the ocean's interior.

Can Oceanic Submesoscale Processes Be Observed With Satellite Altimetry? [PDF]
High‐resolution (2 km and hourly) observations of surface currents from High‐Frequency Radars are analyzed in terms of sea level anomalies (SLA) and compared with data from two satellite altimeter ground tracks. Purpose is to investigate whether ocean submesoscale processes can be observed with satellite altimetry.

Submesoscale Processes in the Upper Red Sea
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2022AbstractSpatial‐temporal submesoscale variabilities in the upper Red Sea and their generation mechanisms, including frontogenesis, mixed‐layer instability (MLI), and symmetric instability (SI) are qualitatively investigated using high‐resolution simulations.
