Microsomal superoxide anion production and NADPH-oxidation in a series of 22 aziridinylbenzoquinones [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Several 2,5-bis(1-aziridinyl)-1,4-benzoquinones (BABQs) can be activated to alkylating species by reduction of the quinone moiety. On the other hand, cytotoxicity of these compounds can be induced by redox cycling.

Antiplasmodial activity of p-substituted benzyl thiazinoquinone derivatives and their potential against parasitic infections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Malaria is a life-threatening disease and, what is more, the resistance to available antimalarial drugs is a recurring problem. The resistance of Plasmodium falciparum malaria parasites to previous generations of medicines has undermined malaria control ...

Quantum Transport through Organic Molecules

open access: yes, 2009
We explore electron transport properties for the model of benzene-1, 4-dithiolate (BDT) molecule and for some other geometric models of benzene molecule attached to two semi-infinite one-dimensional metallic electrodes using the Green's function ...

Hammett Correlations in the \u3csup\u3e1\u3c/sup\u3eH NMR Spectra of Some N-Arlydihalonicotinamides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Excellent linear correlations of amide proton chemical shifts (Snh) (in DMSO-d6 ) with Hammett substituent constants (5) for a series of 4-substituted anilides of four dihalonicotinic acid systems were observed. Dihalonicotinanilides with chlorine in the

Enhancing Optoelectronic Properties in Phthalocyanine‐Based SURMOFs: Synthesis of ABAB Linkers by Avoiding Statistical Condensation with Tailored Building Blocks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.

Substituent Effects on the Photophysical Properties of a Series of 8(meso)-Pyridyl-BODIPYs: A Computational Analysis of the Experimental Data

open access: yesPhyschem
Recently, a series of 8(meso)-pyridyl-BODIPYs (2-pyridyl, 3-pyridyl, and 4-pyridyl) and their 2,6-substituted derivatives were synthesized and their structure and photophysical properties were studied both experimentally and computationally.

Insight into Spodium–π Bonding Characteristics of the MX2⋯π (M = Zn, Cd and Hg; X = Cl, Br and I) Complexes—A Theoretical Study

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
The spodium–π bonding between MX2 (M = Zn, Cd, and Hg; X = Cl, Br, and I) acting as a Lewis acid, and C2H2/C2H4 acting as a Lewis base was studied by ab initio calculations. Two types of structures of cross (T) and parallel (P) forms are obtained.

Electronics and Chemistry: Varying Single Molecule Junction Conductance Using Chemical Substituents

open access: yes, 2007
We measure the low bias conductance of a series of substituted benzene diamine molecules while breaking a gold point contact in a solution of the molecules.
