A Hammett’s analysis of the Substituent Effect in Functionalized Diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) Systems: optoelectronic properties and intramolecular charge transfer effects

open access: yes, 2023
Diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) systems have promising applications in different organic electronic devices. In this work, we investigated the effect of 20 distinct substituent groups on the optoelectronic properties of DPP-based derivatives as the donor (D ...

Substituent Effect Study for 13C SCS in a Meta-Styrene Series. Reynolds Dual Substituent Parameter Model Investigation

open access: yes, 2021
This article investigates the transmission of the meta-substituent, X, effect to the carbon β (Cβ) of 17 different styrenes (X–C6H4–CHCYZ) using the literature 13C substituent chemical shift (SCS) of Cβ.

Effect of substituent position on assembly of compounds bearing ortho/para over meta directing groups

open access: yesResults in Chemistry
This research investigated the impact of substituent location on intermolecular interactions and crystal packing. A class of N-(dichlorophenyl)-2-pyrazincarboxamide derivatives were synthesized and characterized: 2,5-dichloro (2,5-diCl), 3,4-dichloro (3 ...

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Substituent Effects on the Photophysical Properties of a Series of 8(meso)-Pyridyl-BODIPYs: A Computational Analysis of the Experimental Data

open access: yesPhyschem
Recently, a series of 8(meso)-pyridyl-BODIPYs (2-pyridyl, 3-pyridyl, and 4-pyridyl) and their 2,6-substituted derivatives were synthesized and their structure and photophysical properties were studied both experimentally and computationally.

Insight into Spodium–π Bonding Characteristics of the MX2⋯π (M = Zn, Cd and Hg; X = Cl, Br and I) Complexes—A Theoretical Study

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
The spodium–π bonding between MX2 (M = Zn, Cd, and Hg; X = Cl, Br, and I) acting as a Lewis acid, and C2H2/C2H4 acting as a Lewis base was studied by ab initio calculations. Two types of structures of cross (T) and parallel (P) forms are obtained.

Long‐Range Coordination Environment Modulates Single‐Atom Local States and Systemic Impact on CO2 Photoconversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Terminal groups on Cu porphyrins modulate the electronic states of single‐atom Cu centers through a long‐range electronic effect, without altering the Cu coordination geometry. Meanwhile, a multi‐descriptor framework is established that incorporates porphyrin regulation, hybrid catalyst properties, and CO2 photoreduction capabilities.

Synthesis, properties and color assessment of some new 5-(3- and 4-substituted phenylazo)-4,6-dimethyl-3-cyano-2-pyridones [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2006
A series of 5-(3- and 4-substituted phenylazo)-4,6-dimethyl-3-cyano-2-pyridones were synthesized, starting from acetylacetone and arenediazonium salt, followed by condensation with cyanoacetamide using a modified literature procedure.
