A New 1D Chaotic Map and $\beta$ -Hill Climbing for Generating Substitution-Boxes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
One-dimensional (1-D) chaotic maps have been considered as prominent pseudo-random source for the design of different cryptographic primitives. They have the advantages of simplicity, easy to implement, and low computation.

Human Behaviour Based Optimization Supported With Self-Organizing Maps for Solving the S-Box Design Problem

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
The cryptanalytic resistance of modern block and stream encryption systems mainly depends on the substitution box (S-box). In this context, the problem is thus to create an S-box with higher value of nonlinearity because this property can provide some ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Evolving Dynamic S-Boxes Using Fractional-Order Hopfield Neural Network Based Scheme

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
Static substitution-boxes in fixed structured block ciphers may make the system vulnerable to cryptanalysis. However, key-dependent dynamic substitution-boxes (S-boxes) assume to improve the security and robustness of the whole cryptosystem.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Security-Enhanced Image Encryption: Combination of S-Boxes and Hyperchaotic Integrated Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
In the field of image encryption, with the continuous development of attack techniques, the requirements for the attack resistance and robustness of encryption algorithms are increasing, and the method of image encryption using a single chaotic system ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Mobius Group Generated by Two Elements of Order 2, 4, and Reduced Quadratic Irrational Numbers

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2022
The construction of circuits for the evolution of orbits and reduced quadratic irrational numbers under the action of Mobius groups have many applications like in construction of substitution box (s-box), strong-substitution box (s.s-box), image ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
