Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Analysis of Random Response of Structure with Uncertain Parameters. Combination of Substructure Synthesis Method and Hierarchy Method.

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Materials Science, Japan, 1995
In this paper, the method to obtain the random response of a structure with uncertain parameters is proposed. The proposed method is a combination of the substructure synthesis method and the hierarchy method. The concept of the proposed method is that the hierarchy equation of each substructure is obtained using the hierachy method, and the hierarchy ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

A reduced interface component mode synthesis method using coarse meshes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Component mode synthesis is a technique to simplify the analysis of complicated finite element models. A structure is split into substructures from which reduced order models can be generated and subsequently assembled. A model reduction performance gain

High-pressure synthesis, mechanical properties, and magnetic behavior of chromium diboride

open access: yesAIP Advances
Despite persistent synthetic challenges in realizing borophene, transition metal diborides, characterized by honeycomb borophene substructure and weak interlayer coupling, are attracting growing interest as potentially viable alternatives.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

A substructure synthesis formulation for vibration isolation

open access: yes, 2008
The new modeling method presented here is classified as a substructure synthesis (SS) technique. The distinction between the new SS method and the component mode synthesis formulation is that no transformation between local coordinates and generalized ...

The evolution of dark matter substructure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This thesis investigates the dynamical evolution of systems orbiting within deeper potentials. Initially we use a simple satellite-halo interaction to study the dynamical processes that act on orbiting systems and we compare these results to analytical ...

Development of Hybrid Vibration Simulator for Automobiles using Substructure Synthesis Method Based on FE Component and Real Substructure Model.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 1997
A vibration simulator was utilized to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of a complicated mechanical system, which requires the total structures to be available. However, in the design stage, only one component is generally under consideration to improve the system dynamics.

An Application of Substructure Method into Computation of Seismic Waves Propagating from Source to Free Field Ground Surfac [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A substructure method is introduced into the theoretical synthesis of free field ground motions resulting from the propagating seismic waves in earth crustal and surface soillayers, which originate from an extended fault rupturing. The proposed method is
