Advanced Separators for Liquid and Quasi‐Solid Lithium Rechargeable Batteries: Design and Development

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review traces the evolution of lithium‐ion battery separators from passive barriers to multifunctional components central to cell safety and performance. Polymer‐ceramic hybrids, nanofiber architectures, and bio‐derived membranes deliver ionic conductivities above 3 mS cm−1, thermal stability beyond 200 °C, and effective suppression of lithium ...

Substructuring and Component Mode Synthesis

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 1997
Substructuring and component mode synthesis (CMS), is a very popular method of model reduction for large structural dynamics problems. Starting from the pioneering works on this technique in the early 1960s, many researchers have studied and used this ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

A New Iterative Procedure for Deconvolution of Seismic Ground Motion in Dam-Reservoir-Foundation Systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
The concrete gravity dams are designed to perform satisfactorily during an earthquake since the consequence of failure is catastrophic to the downstream communities. The foundation in a dam is usually modeled by a substructuring approach for the purpose

Confirmation of low genetic diversity and multiple breeding females in a social group of Eurasian badgers from microsatellite and field data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The Eurasian badger ( Meles meles ) is a facultatively social carnivore that shows only rudimentary co-operative behaviour and a poorly defined social hierarchy.

Data‐Driven Bulldozer Blade Control for Autonomous Terrain Leveling

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A simulation‐driven framework for autonomous bulldozer leveling is presented, combining high‐fidelity terramechanics simulation with a neural‐network‐based reduced‐order model. Gradient‐based optimization enables efficient, low‐level blade control that balances leveling quality and operation time.

A modular design method on vibration for reshaping a specific eigenmode of the focused subsystem to desired one

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu
In modern vehicle development, concurrent modular design, which is a productive manufacturing approach that uses pre-made and interchangeable modules to build vehicles and subsystems, has become mainstream to improve design efficiency and strengthen ...

Genetic structure of Indian populations based on fifteen autosomal microsatellite loci

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2006
Background Indian populations endowed with unparalleled genetic complexity have received a great deal of attention from scientists world over. However, the fundamental question over their ancestry, whether they are all genetically similar or do exhibit ...

Machine Learning for Green Solvents: Assessment, Selection and Substitution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Environmental regulations have intensified demand for green solvents, but discovery is limited by Solvent Selection Guides (SSGs) that quantify solvent sustainability. Training a machine learning model on GlaxoSmithKline SSG, a database of sustainability metrics for 10,189 solvents, GreenSolventDB is developed. Integrated with Hansen solubility metrics,
