Analysis of patch substructuring methods
International audiencePatch substructuring methods are non-overlapping domain decomposition methods like classical substructuring methods, but they use information from geometric patches reaching into neighboring subdomains, condensated on the interfaces,

Mechanically origami‐coded 3D kirigami photovoltaics convert a single extension–release cycle into deterministic self‐folding, reconfiguring planar solar cells into programmable 3D modules. Distinct coding strategies enable either ultrahigh stretchability (500% system strain) or ultrahigh initial effective areal coverage (225%).

Optimizing lightweight structures with particle damping using frequency based substructuring
In many cases, the use of damping technologies is the only option to reduce undesired vibrations. Despite various damping techniques available on the market, the design of a precise damping behaviour still needs a lot of experimental testing and ...

Thiolated Polymers in 3D Bioprinting: Control of Gelation
Thiolated polymers are established as programmable bioinks for 3D bioprinting, integrating versatile crosslinking chemistries with redox‐responsive control. This work demonstrates how molecular design and external triggers define gelation kinetics, printability windows, and structural fidelity, enabling stable, high‐resolution constructs and advancing ...

General Formulation of Inverse Substructuring Method for Multicoordinate Coupled System
A frequency response function- (FRF-) based direct decoupling method is proposed and applied to inverse analysis of a multicoordinate coupled system. The general formulation of inverse substructuring method for multicoordinate coupled multisubstructure ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Interval and fuzzy eigenfrequency analysis of uncertain substructured FE models
This paper uses an interval and fuzzy finite element approach for the eigenfrequency analysis of a mechanical structure with uncertain parameters. The component mode synthesis method is applied for the numerical reduction of the structure, in order to ...
