Subthreshold coincidence detection

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1997
Many neurons in the central nervous system are thought to perform coincidence detection between two or more inputs. These inputs are individually subthreshold for action potential generation. However, in the presence of even a small background noise, the neuron can fire in the absence of such inputs.

Is Subthreshold Ionization a Chaotic Phenomenon?

1987
The dynamics of strongly perturbed quantum systems is discussed in this paper through the study of a simple model. Aiming at a clarification of the role of classical chaos in quantum mechanics, the mechanism of strong field subthreshold ionization is illustrated in different situations.

Subthreshold conduction in MOSFET's

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1978
The dependence of channel current in subthreshold operation upon drain, gate, and substrate voltages is formulated in terms of a simple model. The basic results are consistent with earlier approaches for long-channel devices. For short-channel devices, the variation of current with drain voltage up to the punch-through voltage is accurately described ...
